Had a chance to compare the new Cruze and a Captiva side by side recently and both looked really nice. The Cruze model was the top-spec with the two-tone interior colour scheme and the Captiva was the top of the line model as well. The interior of the Cruze was really nice but felt so small compared to an SUV like the Captiva. Was nice and modern, however, but the use of hard-plastics in some places was a letdown. The Captiva is a 3 year old model but still seems pretty fresh and modern. It's a nice compromise between the larger SUVs like the Fortuner and a car.

I'm just wondering why the HUGE price differential between the two...with the Captiva being almost 2x the price of the Cruze. Is it mainly a tax issue...with the SUV attracting a high excise tax...they are both manufactured in Thailand. Also, I believe the Captiva is scheduled for a new model later this year so maybe better to wait if considering buying one of them.

ERR ??

The Cruze @ 900,000 is petrol and list is more for the top of the range RRP is 968,000 baht.

The top the range model BRAND NEW Captiva petrol is RRP 1,466,000 baht.. Release Date here in Thailand was November 2010. for the 'new' present model.------ up 20,000 baht over the old model Released in 2007 here in Thailand

No idea why anyone would try to sell for 1.6 million for a 3 year old model.... ? Top of the range 3 year old petrol would be around 875 - 950,000 baht.

Top Cruze is 1.165M

Right, that's what I thought; the 2.0 diesel Cruze is similarly priced to a FWD Captiva with 2.0 diesel engine. Better to compare those models, perhaps, if at all. When you look at the 2.0 Captiva for 1.28M the choices become obvious; the Captiva has seven seats and will deal with flooded roads better than the faster, more advanced and more comfortable Cruze.

Sorry I didn't get the exact specs and model numbers...it was at a shopping center where the local Chevy dealer had about 5 cars on display. There were 2 Cruzes, one for around 700k and the other, two-tone colored interior, for about 900k. I didn't realize there were more expensive models too. The 900k model was pretty well spected-out from what I could tell.

The Captiva was a TDi model and I have always liked this particular model...just not the price. I know now also that there may be an upgrade/makeover of this model available later this year.

Both looked like nice cars/suvs.

I wouldnt choose either. There are much better options from the competitors, make sure to test drive the other options too. Both those cars are made in Korea to my knowledge on behalf of GM, The cruze is heavy and slow, An upgraded Altis or Honda Civic is a superior car to the cruze. The Captiva is sold in Australia and most Japanese competitors beat it for quality and reliability as well as resale. Just test drive before you buy.
