Just Got My Visa... Immigration Question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The Hull consulate just issued me a 1 year non-immigrant multi-entry type B visa (that's a mouth full). I'm pleased to have it, however I do have a slight concern about immigration at Bangkok airport.

Does anyone have experience in relation to the type of questions they will ask, or what they'll need to see? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Just enter the visa number on the TM6 arrival card, and make sure they stamp that you are permitted to stay 90 days, not to worry, it's not complicated.

Thank you for the reply.

I'll remember to do the arrival card thing then!

Do they ask any questions though in relation to what business you'll be conducting? Or why you are visiting Thailand? I just want to be 100% prepared so I don't get rejected or something

Like I said, it's not complicated, I've never been asked any questions. Just remember, every time you enter, make sure that they stamp that you are permited to stay 90 days. Even if entering just before the visa expires, you will still get 90 days, so you can actually stay almost 15 months if you time the entries correctly.

Oh that's great! I didn't know you could do the 15 month thing in that fashion, thank you :jap:

It sounds like you're quite use to coming in and out the country with this type of visa. May I ask do you always go through Bangkok airport, or is there perhaps an easier place of entry?

Thanks again

I have a Multi-entry Non-immigrant "B", I have entered from neighboring countries, but usually I enter through Bangkok, never had a problem.

Thai immigration (at least at BKK airport) is probably the easiest I've been through for years.

Over the past 7 years and dozens of entries (both with and without visas) I've had only one issue, and that was just after the implementation of a (now abandoned) rule limiting the number of visa-free entries (and that was the result of an inexperienced officer).

I usually have a non-immigrant 'O' visa, but one time they gave me a 'B'.  Don't know why.  But anyway, no issues at arrival.  No questions, nothing.

But do make sure you enter the visa number on the arrival card, and then check to make sure you were given the 90 days.  If you fail to enter your visa number on the entry card, they will only give you 30 days.

I have also come and gone through a border crossing at Cambodia and Laos.  No problems.  Same thing, just enter the visa number on the entry card to get your 90 days.

The 90 day in and out routine is a pain in the butt.  I wish they would just give an entry until the expiration of the visa.

All the above is correct, unless you have RETIRED in Thailand on a Non Immigrant "B" Visa. Which I did some 8 years ago.
