Interesting to see the outcome of his appeal which will come before the game tonight, especially as the decision to appeal is aimed at him playing against City at wembley.

Then of course all the judge and jury will be hot-footing it to the VIP boxes at the bridge to watch him score the winner :bah: or get sent off?

Something will happen to keep the ABU'S and press core in business....i can feel it.

I don't think the FA will lessen the punishment, they can't condone what he did & will be shown to be if they take away the ban..

Very xlose to the truth there me would have thought..

Except that Rooney had a few weeks Hols earlier on in the Season with the " Injury " around the time of the Contract stuff so he may be taking the p*ss with another Fortnight in Barbados actually, but he could have a week or 10 days i would have thoguht..

About 10 months ago when England played a miserable draw with Algeria, and with England travelling fans booing their performance, Wayne Rooney let go at the camera,as he left the field, and was clearly heard to say "Nice to hear your own fans booing. That's what you call loyal support for F***s sake".Obviously heard by every viewer.

Was he punished by the FA ? No, Why not ? because they didn't want to lose their, perceived, best striker with a deserved suspension

So now a repeat performance and he is banned for 2 matches. I fail to see the difference between the 2 incidents apart from the FA's hypocrisy ,something they are very good at.

A bit different when it is aimed at the referee don't you think?

I think it could well be dropped to a fine and a 1 game ban.

Didnt Drogba get a THREE match ban for a similar outburst on camera, though?

Rooney's outburst was 6 words, 50% of which was the word " <deleted> " ..

Drogba's was 7 words of which one word was " <deleted> " as in " <deleted> disgrace ".

He wasn't banned by the FA either but UEFA, his Ban was 6 Games, 2 being supended for 2 Years..

His outburst was undoubtedly directed towards an Offical too & not the Millions watching on TV.

The FA doesn't control bans in World Cup Tournaments though Sparks..

Classic example of people not knowing the difference between which governing bodies control what & where etc..

Of course, ignoring this fact though is a great way for Man United Fans to call it hypocricy, yeah..

But as you say hypocricy for certain and double standards too, involving all football associations.

They did not even have a rule for this and have put it into another category so they can cane him.

But you would not accept that would you.

Rooney fate announced on Thursday

The Football Association will confirm whether Wayne Rooney will be free to face Manchester City in this month's FA Cup semi-final at 10am on Thursday morning.

Rooney is challenging his two-match ban for using offensive, insulting and/or abusive language at West Ham on Saturday, believing it to be too excessive for the crime he committed.

As it presently stands, the Manchester United forward will miss Saturday's Premier League encounter with Fulham and that eagerly-anticipated clash with City at Wembley on April 16.

A conclusion will be reached on Wednesday and relayed to the Old Trafford club.

However, the FA are sympathetic about the timing of any public release, which would come just a couple of hours before United tackle Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

And, after consultation between both parties, it has been agreed the official media announcement will not be made until the morning, by which time United, and Rooney, will be back in Manchester.

Rooney, whom it has been revealed did not have his lucrative sponsorship contract with Coca-Cola renewed last year, is risking his ban being increased. However, United are convinced the suspension should be cut by a three-man disciplinary panel and have the support of the Professional Footballers' Association.

"If he is unsuccessful in his appeal the commission could look on the case as not being truly exceptional," said PFA deputy chief executive John Bramhall.

"But from my experience, the circumstances surrounding his case are unprecedented and therefore you would say it was truly exceptional."

WHATS THE BETTING IT IS RELASED BY KICK-OFF??

I hope he gets it reduced , I also hope that any injuries (Manure have) just go away . I want them at full strength for the Semi . I don't want them to have any excuses for the slaughter that The only football team from Manchester CITY is going to inflict on them.

If they don't reduce it they should make him serve it after the semi ,that would be in keeping with the favoritism the FA always seems to have for them .

I also think that the FA should give Taggart the choice of which officials should be appointed . They should also give Manure the choice of which City players should get sent off (Bacon Face should Pick)

Taggart should be asked by the FA How many players City should be allowed to keep on the field. Even after all that The Bacon will shout & rant about City winning the toss for kick off & blame the colour of their shirts for not being able to see each-other on the pitch (Financial Shirt CON )

Carragher challenge on Nani? that's ok. Essien challenge this weekend? Thats ok too. A Cole shoots someone with air rifle? Fine. Balotelli throws darts at youth players? sweet. Rooney says a naughty word that might upset the conceited sensibilities of middle England and the daily mail? ban him....... f*****g barmy world we live in!

Players swear at each other and the ref in EVERY game EVERY week but nothing. Rooney says one word into a camera shoved in his face after he's notched a hat trick to bring his team back from 2 down in the title run in and gets charged by the corrupt ****s....

:annoyed::ph34r:

That doesn't make it right does it ??

& why did he say those specific words when, as you quite rightly point out, he scores a Hat Trick for his Club that argubly sealed a Record Breaking Championship ??

Any idea why he didn't smile or say " Yeeeeeesssss " & smile in delight, instead of " <deleted> you, <deleted> you, <deleted> off " ??

Just wondering..

You can take the Boy out of Liverpool, but you can't take the Liverpool out of the Boy me thinks..:)

I get angry sometimes when I play Basketball, sometimes things don't go my way, sometimes the players around aren't doing what they should. I get angry, it fires me up and I respond, I punch the air and I shout, I sometimes swear..... I do not, punch, kick or fire rifles at people while smiling or in anger....

I am by day, a happy go lucky bloke who generally makes those around him smile, I like to think. Most people are different/change on on a pitch, field court etc......

Some priorities and, a little realism here people.....

redrus

What about when things do go your way then Rus, like when you score the equivilant of scoring a Hat Trick in Football, to 3 x 3 Pointers on the bounce for arguements sakes ??

Do you then scream " <deleted> you, <deleted> you, <deleted> off " to anyone that would listen or take notice ??

Let's get that realism going..

Yes, lets, things were most certainly not going our way, we were 2 nil down at half time, how more real do you want...? He pulled us back with those goals and, the anger came out.

My issue though, is not with what he did (it wasn't right) but the comparison with far worse outbursts that actually injure and hurt others, actions that have gone unpunished.

Seriously, he swore....... Whats worse, telling someone to F off or, giving them a slap...?

Times have changed a lot, regarding language on the TV. Remember in my younger days, even what are now considered fairly mild swears words, such as crap and shit, were very rarely ever heard, besides perhaps some very late night programming. Nowadays, you can probably hear such vocabulary on Childrens BBC!

I don't particularly like it, but it's the way of the world.

All that said, regarding whether Rooney be punished or not, my feeling is that yes, he should, for the sake of all the parents with young kids who were sitting watching the game and who had no chance to make a decision about whether their kids be exposed to it.

As for what the punishment should be, i really don't know what is appropriate and fitting.

As a United fan, i am of course inclined to say it shouldn't include being banned from playing, just in the same way that certain supporters of other clubs, will likely say it should. Whatever. Rooney and United should take whatever punishment is decided upon, and move on. Mistakes made and hopefully learnt from. Well one lives in hope...

You're not a United Fan, you're a United of Manchester Fan, there's a difference, we were United before you remember so it' snot your Crown..;)

But anyway's, i don't particulary think he should be banned, no matter what Club i support which shouldn't matter at all..

The one thing i absolutely despsie about Football Supporters is one eyednes that doesn't distinguish between what's right & wrong because of who the guilty Player plays for, it's absolute b*lloks of the highest order..

That's not digging out nayone specific, just one of my pet dislikes..

I dont' however feel Rooney should get banned at all in this instance, i just wish he would smile more for all of our sakes as they say a happy mind leads to a better life & if Rooney's life was better due to a better frame of mind which he quite clearly doesn't have currently, imagine how great we'd all be enteratined watching him play Football week in week out ?? :)

I know Devil Rix, i've played Football with him previously, drank with him, ate Pies with him & i can't face him any more as i won't be able to take him seriously after everything i've seen him write on here, he has blown my mind with his one eyedness in a way that is not good for my health..:D
