Does anyone have any experience of using the above company ? their cover seems to be a lot more comprehensive than that of their Thai counterparts at not much more extra cost.

I actually was leaning towards using them as in my reasearch, they were very responsive and forthcoming with a lot of information.

I did many cost/benifit comparisions and they looked good.

I'm 62 currently, price was good but then did a look at premiums at age 65 (next age band) and was shocked to see that the premium doubled, exactly.

When I asked the agent all he could tell me was that "most insurance coverages go up considerably at age 65".

I'm opting to go with a company that keeps you in your age group as long as you have coverage with them.

They will however increase 5% annualy do to increasing medical costs. (So 3 years until I'm 65 = 15% increase. A bit lower than 50%)

Good luck

Not all Major Health insurance premiums go up each year. I just received my annual renewal notice from my Independent Insurance Broker who was initially recommended to me by the "Insurance Department Staff" of a large International Hospital on Phuket Island. That hospital staff deals with Farang on a daily basis, and perhaps their frustrations about paying hospital medical bills. It was a good recommendation for me.

So for BUPA Platinum 2 million Policy for In patient, not "out patient" coverage, my premium and my Thai wife's premium are the exact same as last year. They did not go up a single satang. Our 15 year old Daughter's BUPA Emerald policy premium went up 381 baht for the entire year. I'm the wrong side of 55, my wife is over 40 and we pay 228 baht a day for excellent coverage. If we make no claims we will get a rebate check for 10% of our premium in the mail in a few months.

If you are under 65 it is worth looking at the BUPA policies that an Independent licensed Insurance Broker can offer you. The policy is in Thai and English, as are the guidebooks from BUPA, and frankly the BUPA card is very well known at any Up Country or Bangkok hospital we have been patients. I had some minor follow up treatment to a covered in patient operation and the check came within one week from BUPA once I mailed the two forms they requested. There was no run around. BUPA paid the hospital directly when ever we have had inpatient procedures, and the one "follow up" they paid me back promptly. Working with a dual citizen, bi-lingual Insurance Broker makes the whole "experience" less stressful and it is NOT the same experience as calling any Thai Insurance company directly.

For me to spend $7.75 a day for top flight coverage for the entire family is reasonable.

Initially I was dealing with a broker (Pacific Prime) but due to mis-information I submitted an application to Nordic Health Care again, this time personally.

Thru the broker they refused any hypertension coverage and an $1100.00 load to cover a prior 5 yr. old shoulder injury and a case of acute broncitis I had earlier this year.

When I submitted the online application direct it was a completly different offer.

The would cover the pre existing hypertension, and could care less about the others.

Not only would they cover the hypertension, and all related conditions, they offered to cover all the OP visits relating to it but not the meds needed....... the load was $900.00.

I'm 99% sure that if I get insurance it will be from Nordic Healthcare (since 1927) and pretty comprensive coverage.
