Hi all, I am a noob!

I have looked into this issue and admit I am still confused, I wonder if anyone can help.

I am heading to good old BKK in May for 4 weeks, but this time I will spend a week plus in Malaysia. I think my BKK departure tax is included

in Emirates fare, and that of Malaysia departure tax covered by Air Asia ticket. Could you confirm that?

I believe by travelling from Hatyai to Penang by train I avoid the 700bht, or less from regional airport, departure tax, but may face a fee on re-entry of about 1000 bht.

I have read that is simply the case, and I will recieve another 30 days on my tourist Visa. I'm from the UK.

However, I have allsorts of conflicting advice and would surely like to know before I go!

Thank you for any help.

If you return to Thailand by air you will get a 30 day entry stamp.

If you return by other means you will get 15 days.

Sorry but did not understand much of the rest of it. :(

A re-entry permit just keeps your stamp alive.

You come to Thailand on a tourist visa and get a entry stamp for 60 days.

Use 30 days in Thailand and 30 days in Malaysia, that would mean your entry stamp is finished, even with a re-entry permit.

If you come back to Thailand within the initial 60 days you can get a 30 day extension from immigrations.

Re-entry permit 1000 baht.

Extension 1900 baht.

Get a new tourist visa in Penang while you are there, cost 1000 baht.

Even better get a double entry visa at a consulate in your country.

Well, that answered my question really so thank you. oes it cost 1000 bht do you know?

I may have confused you with the departure bits, but I am basically looking at 3 departure taxes.... departing Thailand twice, and Malaysia once. Ha, I'm confused by it all.

Thanks, I think I am getting there.

I'm actually going for 3 weeks and 2 days. Maybe this itinerary would help?

I have one day in BKK, then 4 days in Pattaya.

I then come back to BKK for anight then fly to Hatyai and stay for one day/night.

Then the train to penang and stay for 5 nights, followed by a bus to KUL for 3 nights.

I then fly back to BKK and stay for a week before flying home.

So, do I just need to pick a 1000 baht re-entry visa in KUL?

Thank you!

You do not need anything - each entry on a UK passport will get a 30 day stamp from Thailand and longer from Malaysia so not need for visas. There is no extra tax involved anymore as a part of air fares.

Sorry, even though I need not do anything, does it still cost 1000 baht? Thanks.

I mean as to re-entry, not departure tax.

Sorry!
