Pharmacy In Bangkok For Actrapid Penfill 3Ml

Featured Replies

Hi!

I'll be in Bangkok for a few months and need to regulary buy insulin (have never been in Thailand before).

The exact name is Actrapid penfill 3ml. (important!, not vial)

Bangkok hospital told me it is not available in Thailand (only vial avaiable). But the manufacturer Novonordisk told me it is available. However the English was limited so I am not sure who knows. Novonordisk told me it is available at victory monuments store, sky train bts station and gave me a phone number: +66 2 3549217

I called but they don't speak English and I don't speak Thai:-(

Does anyone know the name of a pharmacy at Victory monuments store? And any idea how I can find out if I can get the Actrapid penfill there and for how much?

Thank you!

Cheers

Fbu

It is indeed available in Thailand, ought to be able to get it at more than one pharmacy.

There are 2-3 pharmacies on Ratchawithi Road near the Victory Monument Station, i don't know the name of either and wouldn't much help you if I did. But I can give directions as follows:

Take the northwesternmost exit out of the BTS (i.e. walk in direction the trains to Morchit were headed and take furthest exit to your left..will entail walking across some foot bridges.

You want to be on the northwest side of the monument, on Ratchawithi Road and opposite the large hospital that is there. You'll readily find the phartmacies, they are close toegther. Not physically large in store size but well stocked.

A simpler alternative given that you'll be new to Bangkok might be to have a taxi take you to Ratchawithi Hospital ("rong pay-a-ban Raja-wit-tee") and then the pharmacies will be across the street from there.

Bring the drug or at least a package insert or photo of it with you to show as indeed they do not speak English.

If this fails, try the large pharmacy on Sukhumvit near Soi 2 sort of opposite the tollway. If they don't have it they can probably order it for you.

in terms of cost, it will be more expensive than it is back home (say 10 - 15% more at least) unless back home is the US in which case it will be the same or a little less. reason for the high cost is that it is imported from abroad.
