The original plans were to release it in Q3 this year, but this has been set back due to parts shortage from Japan. Could now be delayed until Q4 2011 or Q1 2012.

can a new engine/auto be expected, or will they continue the dated and lazy 1,5/4 speed?

The "dated and lazy" (now more than 9 years old) 1NZ-FE 1.5L remains, with same old 109HP output, but will be mated to a CVT transmission.

However, It's not yet clear whether the CVT will replace the 4AT alttogether, or be offered in higher badged models only.

CVT version will aso get a stop/start system, for better fuel economy.

Can you explain how the AC works when the engine is "stopped" e.g at the traffic lights please ?

ac doesnt work when engine not running. Fan continues to blow cold air for approx 2 minutes, but as compressor isnt running it gets warmer by the seconds

Nissan March stop/start doesnt work while AC is ON

in cold spec vehicles, an electric circulation pump keeps feeding heater with hot water while stop/start stops engine

There's plenty of info about the new Yaris online, as it's already released in Japan (google for 2011 Vitz - it's Japanese name). The only info about the new VIOS (Belta in Japan) I'm aware of is what I've posted however..
