Hey all.

Does anyone know if Thailand is a priority market for Samsung or not? The reason i ask is that the Samsung SGS2 is getting released in Korea/UK and some other countries in the end of April/1st of May. And im wondering if Thailand will see an early release of the phone or not.

Anyone know how long it took for the Samsung Galaxy (one) to hit Thai markets after its release?

Regards.

AIS were the local launch partner for the Samsung Galaxy S on/about 1 June 2010.

AIS have the LG Optimus 2X promoed on their website --> http://www.ais.co.th...n/th/index.html

Not sure who might promo the S2, maybe True?

Chatter still says "end of April", but also saw some posts about at least a 30 day delay.

A longish thread here--> http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=959545

Imo theres no doubt that it will be released in Korea and UK in the end of April. Thanks for the heads up on the LG O2X, was looking at that phone first, but with both phones available in stores i would choose the Samsung one ten times out of ten.

The question is how long i have to wait untill it hits Thai markets tough.

Very tempted with going for the O2X, but it would be a stupid choice at this time.

Just bought the Galaxy SL 2 days ago (13K) and really impressed with the Android OS. First time I have ever used a smartphone and within hours I was familiar with most functions (as opposed to the days it took me to workout the functions on my old Samsung).

The new Galaxy S-2 looks like the ideal phone to me (flash and AMOLED screen etc) but due to its suggested price (22K according to one source) and current unavailability I decided to make the Galaxy SL my starter purchase.

I am very happy (so far).

That is a good phone for the price. For those interested in the original Galaxy S this on-line shop still has grey-market Captivates (4" super AMOLED screen, 16 GB Class 10 internal memory, 850 Mhz 3G radio; things the SL are lacking) for 13,900.

The Samsung Captivate does look great value , I see its branded AT&T , would this phone require any mods /adjustments to use it in Thailand ?

Samsung's power management system is doing its job well. In summary, we expect you'll be able to get a solid couple of days' regular use out of the Galaxy S II

Engadget review is up...

Holy crap, even I want one now :)

Summary of the review: It's the bestest phone ever, ever ever.

Maybe it's the first Android phone to scroll lists without stuttering - that would be something. No really, lookin' great. Might be a pretty big slab at 4.3" screen size, and the display resolution is slightly below the iPhone 4 but the new AMOLED sounds terrific and able to more than make up for that.

It's probably not fair to AAPL to compare the iPhone 4's smallish 3.5" screen, albeit with super-high resolution (which doesn't really seem to do much in real-world applications), with the S2 4.3" Super AMOLED screen. Slam-dunk doesn't even come close. In fact even the Galaxy S variants' 4" Super AMOLED screen blows an iPhone 4 away on all-round screen performance. There are plenty of lag-fixes available for Android phones, some of which do not perhaps manage memory as well as they should with stock ROMs. Every iPhone 3GS and 4 user, sample size = 9 so hardly representative I admit, who uses my phone says the screen is much better and the performance/animations are better. I have a Samsung Captivate with a custom ROM, Paragon RC6 which is 2.2.1 based and balances a great 3G radio, battery performance, UI speed and GPS accuracy.

I find the 4" Samsung format and ideal balance, for me, of size, feel, performance. Some of the larger-format screens, like the HTC Desire HD, seem too big for me, so I'm not sure about the S2. However I suspect it will be hugely successful, as was the S version. There are also some rumors of a galaxy S2 Mini with a 3.7" Super AMOLED screen, and the AT&T Infuse 4G (made by Samsung - single core 1.2 Ghz CPU) with a 4.5" Super AMOLED screen.
