Ardbeg Single Malt Whisky In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can buy a bottle of Ardbeg in Bangkok? I've seen Laphroaig and Glenmorangie around but no Ardbeg. And how much does it cost?

It'll be expensive, that's IF you can find it!

Isn't Laphroaig peaty enough?

Well, one reason may be rather because Ardbeg is a lot less peaty than your average Islay Malt.

Laphroaig is a little bit too peaty for some and Glenmorangie is a little bland but they're both available for under 2000 baht which is quite reasonable. Strange Ardbeg isn't more widely available here.

On the Ardbeg website, they say "Ardbeg is the PEATIEST and SMOKIEST of all the Islay malts..." (CAPS are theirs not mine). And, "Welcome to Ardbeg, the Ultimate Single Islay Malt Scotch Whisky. It is, perhaps, the most peaty malt whisky in the world - certainly of all the Islay malts."

I'd try Emporium (5th floor?), Central Chitlom, Siam Paragon (GF, off the market there is a pretty well-stocked packy).

Ardbeg is nice, but I much prefer Caol Ila.

If anyone knows where to find this, give a shout. The 12 year old is very nice.

I am running low on Distiller's edition and I am treasuring my cask strength 25 year old Caol Ila.

Cask 741, bottled 17-04-2007.

Purely for medicinal purposes, of course... :whistling:

Two places I would check;

Villa Market close to Soi 33 Sukhumvit. Note; check upstairs, not the ground floor.

They have a rather good selection of wine and spirits upstairs.

There is a pretty good off license called Sornny. Its in Sukhumvit Soi Tong Lor.

On the left hand side when you walk north from Sukhumvit.

(Note, this shop does not open before noon.)

Checked Villa and Paragon, neither has Ardbeg, which is a shame as it's dаmned good stuff. The best Scotch whisky I've seen in Paragon is Highland Park - at about 4,500 Baht a bottle though!

Go to Vientiane and either pick up your whisky at the duty free shops at the bridge, or buy in town for almost the same price. Not sure if you can get Ardbeg but I reckon the Hichland Park sells for about 50/60 USD. I recently bought a Macallan 12 year old for about 1200 baht (3,300,000 kip) in grocery shop. Almost half the Thai price,

is pacific liquor near suk soi 18 still up and running? used to buy cigars there, and the odd tipple, but i gave up cigars.
