Phuket Banks

Featured Replies

hi there, iam soon to open a bank account in phuket, can anyone recommend which would be the best bank, bearing in mind i want to transfer money out of Thailand to the uk. this will be around 20,000 baht a month, is there a bank were i can get a cash card and use it in the uk ?

All the main Thai banks provide ATM cards which can be used in the UK. I've found that Kasicorn and Siam Commercial tend to be more helpful when foreigner opening an account.

I second that.

I believe Bangkok Bank is the best bank for this. I remember i opened the account with Siam Commercial Bank and wanna transfer money abroad. Siam Commercial has to transfer through the oversea hub of Bangkok Bank and made me pay extra fee. Another bank will be Kasikorn they are quite effective and the fee is less than Siam Commercial.

I'm with Siam Commercial.

I can use my card in UK and have an internet transfer to UK set up on scbeasy.net. Takes a while to set up but when your done it beats going to the bank!

Banking here feels like banking in UK 10years ago. I only recently discovered that if you withdraw money in BKK you get charged for being away from your home province! blink.gif
