has anyone here noticed how many newbies are currently signing up to to ThaiVisa and becoming Thaksin cheerleaders?

what happened with them?

did they wake up in the last two weeks and find some political karma that directed them to TV to eulogize Thaksin and decry the democrats and Abhisit?

i noticed it happened on here before at black songkran and during the attempted revolution

many of those have now disappeared only to be replaced with new political commentators

i realize that there are so many members of TV that despise Thaksin (me included) and that the disparity must have made the reds feel uncomfortable but really?

its so transparent an effort to try to intimidate and shout down other non red TV members into submission, its a joke.

only this morning i was called a <deleted> for simply disagreeing with one of these newbies

i find that objectionable but its typical behavior for a red supporter

in my opinion many of these newbies are paid to post propaganda on behalf of thaksin and the reds

its just too coincidental that they should throw themselves headlong into a fight with anyone who is not red and does not support thaksin at this time

this kind of argument has been going on for years on here without newbies throwing their hat in the ring unless there is some turmoil going on

so why join now?

i am sure that many will disagree with me but at best it seems suspicious to me and a shame that ThaiVisa might be being used in this manner

when i joined ThaiVisa it was to exchange information with more experienced persons in Thailand and maybe give me a head start to living here

it was many years later when i became interested in any political issues

i did not join one day and start flying an aggressive political flag and start chewing out other TV members the next

i suspect many of you were the same when you joined

so why are these newbies confining themselves to only the news and political forums and not anything else

i know what i think..............

Who cares, Farangs can't vote, so whether you're pro-red or pro-yellow you won't change anything.

really? you think so?

i can effectively cast around 20 votes with my extended Thai family and staff as my proxy voters

they won't be for Thaksin.

also its been said many times on TV, being anti red does not make you pro yellow

Who knows why people do what they do. If we could understand all people we could solve all the problems of the world. As far as thaivisa is concerned I joined also to get info. For years I didnot join because when using search engines about thailand often wasted a lot of time with thaivisa replies that came up in the search and had absolutely no value. As a member I enjoy being able to simply give help to others or simply give an opinion, That is all most of us do is give an opinion. As far as the political part goes I feel most are just observers attempting to get insight., or comparing it to their own country and the differences. Foreigners have no say in politics here so it makes no diference what their opinion is. Also this being the internet the foreigners opinion can be based from any where in the world they donot even have to ever been in Thailand. Also as much as we like to think what is posted is read by the world it is probably only read by a few hundred people at the most.. So in the end it is meaningless.

Oh and the op says it was many years before he became interested in political issues. My suggestion is just stay interested not concerned. It is none of our business.

no need to look, i will save you the time, i formally declare i hate thaksin, i hate reds and all things red but thats not the issue nor the subject of this thread

its about newbies signing about, out of nowhere and supporting thaksin and the red revolutionists

so you want to get back on track and stop attacking the messenger.........

I've been here ages and I love Thaksin.

So does my wife and her entire family.

you wouldn't be a newbie that this thread applies to then would you?

you just feel the need to take the opportunity to fly your red flag in an unrelated to the thread post

try to stay on topic........

If they aren't really new posters then they're either an existing " red" signing up under a new nic or somebody signing up for a wind-up.

To be honest the thought that these ( in the main ) badly written contributions are somehow paid for by the Thaksin camp as propaganda is slightly risible.

Anybody who thinks otherwise needs a reality check about our influence on the political front in Thailand. We're not even on the Thais radar ( unless unlike me you happen to be the US Ambassador or something).

at the risk of repeating myself, i do have a say in politics, farang or not, wether Thai's or farangs like it or not

in fact i can exert more influence here than i could ever have done at home in the UK.

name calling and abuse, regardless of who is posting, is unacceptable, please use the report button to alert a moderator on duty. If people are incapable of remaining civil then it doesn't matter what color they wear, they are not welcome.

Here, on an open forum, you publicly declare that you use your position to influence, actually coerce would be more appropriate, people to vote for the candidate of your choice in a country where you didn't even have the right to vote ? If it's not vote rigging at its worse, I don't understand anything about politic.

So please, remind me, what's wrong with Thaksin ?

Well, I balance you out. My 20+ will vote P.P. not just Thaksin. This is getting to be a bit like poker , but very childish. I do wonder , how many Anti- reds live in Isarn? And how many supported the conservatives, republicans or the liberals in their home country. And bought their politics with them ,but will not admit it.

again, thats your right and your opinion

i was told by other posters i should shut up or stop wasting my time as i had no influence, i just stated that i had and why

the fact that you feel the need to state your influence in a competitive manner and call it childish says more about you than me

i suspect there are many anti reds live in Issan but won't admit it

why? because in my opinion they dare'nt admit it...........

your passionate comments have been noted, its about newbies though

try to keep up

i don't like Thaksin nor his paid for band of red bullies and black mercenaries

in my opinion he is a traitor to Thailand and should be tried for his crimes against humanity and hung

I agree that you have gone too far in advocating your position. Using your position as pater familia or employer to ensure those beholding to you vote the way you want them to, has totally destroyed any credibility you might have had.

off topic but i will answer your accusation by saying:

did you vote the same way as your father in your home country? maybe you still do?

as head of this very small family in a very small corner of Thailand

i am the head of my family, my family choose to vote with me if i could cast a vote.

no one is coercing them

if they want to vote red they can, i won't profess to understand it or like it but in my family they have a choice and can exercise it

if they still lived in the red village they originate from they would not have a choice ........

Not naive. Just not paranoid.

As to your second point I politely suggest you analyse what was written. My second sentence's use of " radar " was in obvious reference to the political radar. Plus if the Thais are using TV to advertise to farangs as you suggested it might be more to their benefit if they actually used English as an international language and not Thai. :)

political motivation or not, Thaivisa is an excellent vehicle for Thais to connect with farangs

if you feel differently then maybe you should ask George how much revenue is generated from thai to farang advertising whether its written in Thai or English

i see many adverts for thai products and services written in English

i have not seen many written in Thai directed at farangs but as i do not read Thai i would not ''see '' them anyway would i?

You seem to be in a position of authority, it would appear, that as a result you are coercing them to do as you say. I do suspect that you have bought your political stance from you home country. Which Is? Because , where I live there are a lot of red-necks. Came with a fixed political position and accept no argument anti that position

TV accepting newbie members who are Thaksin supporters? Shame!

In the name of third-world-type-censorship, there clearly needs to be a screening process before that first post! :whistling:

Well, this thread certainly turned personal quick, didn't it.

So, rather than see what has already completely derailed from the OP, I think it can be closed with this final warning.

Abuse, name calling and general nastiness is not welcome. People who are unwilling to allow others a difference of opinion without making assumptions or turning nasty are not welcome. I don't care one way or the other who believes what, but I do expect you to remain civil and behave in an adult manner. Not too much to ask I would hope.

If you see someone behaving in breach of forum rules then the best course of action is to use the report button. Plain and simple
