How To Seek Professional Help In Bkk.

Featured Replies

A slightly to some embarassing question: I need to find perferably a farang if possible Phychologist/Psychiatrist. Reason being as a friend is going through what looks to be a mid life crisis of sorts. His world seems to be imploding. Professional advice is required Any referals or introduction or just a point in a correct direction would be much appreciated.

There is a pinned-info thread about this on top of the health section : Mental Health Resources.

I'd recommend PSI on Sukhumvit soi 43.

Wish your friend well, good of you to try to help that's more then most people I've encountered would do as most would just ridicule or tell him/her to snap out of it and toughen up..

There are a few places around.

I would suggest that you look more in the lines of a Psychologist or a Mental Health Professional. Certainly from my experience in Thailand, the Psychiatrists are pretty poor, and only interested in dishing our medications (normally the most expensive).

If in Bangkok or Pattaya, I'd recommend Carl Janowitz who you should have no problem finding on the list provided in pinned. Carl is well credentialed, heavily experienced Psychologist, and has a good knowledge of working in Thailand.

Secondly, Tim Armstrong who posts here on Thai Visa would also be worth getting in touch with - vastly experienced in Mental Health as an ASW (Approved Social Worker). Tim is based out of Bangkok.

I know both professionally, and would have no hesitation in recommending either of them.
