Hi,

Just joined after many years of reading on this great website. Have a problem that would appreciate some help with...

The short story:

Planned a trip (obviously not well enough!!) to Perth with my Chinese g/f. Used my Thai Air mileage for free tix (non-refundable, must be used by end of year). Had planned on visiting friends and getting her a new Non O visa, which we did on a previous trip in '09, great consulate there, or rather... was! Just found out today that the consulate in Perth closed last year... bummer!

The problem:

As she is here in Phuket with me on a 60 day tourist visa, if we go to Perth she will be unable to get a visa of any kind to return to Thailand with me, at least, not without going to Brisbane or Canberra or some such, which would really screw the whole trip up.

The solution:

I was wondering if there is a way to get a new tourist visa while already being here in country? Or perhaps getting a second entry or some such?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Sorry you cannot get any visa in Thailand.

How long are you staying in Perth? if more than a week, send a tourist visa application to another consulate in Australia by next day guaranteed post, and pay extra for it coming back the same it aswell you will get it back by post within a week or less.

Hi, Thanks for that. Unfortunately, we will only be there for 5 days, not enough time to be sure to get a courier type visa.

Any other ideas folks?

If you extend her visa by 30 days (1900 Baht) and get a re-entry permit (1000 Baht for a single) will that cover your Oz trip?

You can then go about sorting another visa from a more local consulate (although Tourist is likely the best she'll do).

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

You could make a trip out of Thailand to obtain a visa before your trip and then get a re-entry permit to permit return with the same permitted to stay date. You may want to check into ED visa for study as non immigrant O will not be available anywhere.

Thanks, that would work I think... just need to be able to make the return trip into Thailand... cheers.

Thanks for the ideas... had pretty much given up on the Non O since Perth closed...re-entry permit seems to be the way to go, for now anyway. Will drop into the Imm office ASAP next week. Will ask about the ED type as well while there.

I think either way, if she fly from Perth to Thailand she will get an automatic 30 entry visa right? Then that will give you time to go to Phnom Phenn or other to get another 60+30 day Tourist Visa?

Please correct me if I am wrong Mods because I like to know this for my foreigner friends also.

If you get 30 days without a visa depends on your nationality. Believe Chinese can get 15 days only.

Edit:

Checked. Chinese national gets 15 day visa on arrival.

Ever thought of getting a second passport? I just "ordered" my dual entry visa from my home country and had my second passport delivered to me by post. You then leave LOS with one passport and enter again with your second. Have not tried so far on a visa run. According to embassy even that should be no problem...
