Summer Madness/Transfers/Ffp

Featured Replies

Thought I would start this thread because I love the strange things about football.

Its a shame to miss the 150m Ronaldo to Man City rumor just because it is made up....

Hazard, Aguero, Sanchez could go anywhere....

Personally I think we are seeing the peak of the transfer market (first) (this summer) then we will see the peak in the wages market (in another year or so). The biggest sucker this year will be the guy who gets caught in both.....

So any old interesting transfers will do....

Net spending on transfers over the past 8 years.

Quick question. How much do all clubs spend (net) on transfers excluding agents fees and signing on bonuses? The answer is precisely zero. That is why it is called a 'transfer' fee. When a player joins a club at 5 he is free and when he retires he is worth absolutely nothing. Imbetween he changes hands for vast sums which are transferred between clubs in a zero sum game.

That is why the correlation is between wages and performance and not transfer spend and performance because transfer spend is simply a transfer to a third party while wages vaguely equate to performance on the pitch.
