My mistake folks,i meant to say Bang Kapi not Bang Na

The Asian Residence on soi Happyland just north of the mall is not bad, 590 baht with wifi. I stay at both and the Niran Grand is a little nicer I guess but not too much.

If you find a better place in the Bang Kapi area be sure and let us know ok.

The best one in the area is Four Wings hotel and convention center..

Got to agree with you there,am also looking at Bangkok Rama Hotel and,Kantary House ...Really need a hotel with a swimming pool to chill out by before i head back. Thanks for the tip :D

Hard to beat the Nirun Grand .Huge standard room ,nicely furnished but its about 5 years since i stayed there before .

Thanks for the Tip,but we are going to have to agree to disagree about the Niran,I have stayed there 6 times now over the past few years and to me it has gone downhill big time but the prices have go up....Last time i was there they charged me an extra 200 baht per night just because they have finally given the room a lick of paint, they do have a swimming pool but i do not like to jump into anything that i can not see the bottom of (algae). The service was good tho hence the returns visits to them, but i think it was more a case of "better the devil you know".

Now also use hotels.com or booking.com and sort by reviews - they also have links out to trip advisor so you can get a rounded view of the reccomendations - plus you get a much better price than walk up or off their own sites on the web. Don't use anything else nowadays and have never been dissapointed.

Shaggy I think you will want a more expensive place than the Asian Residence by listening to your post.

There is no pool or much in the way of amenities, it caters to thais mainly, but since all I need is clean sheets, wifi and A/C I consider it adequate.

Oh and did you know the Niran Grand walk in rate is only 500 baht so don't book it online. Good Luck, let us know if u find nirvana anywhere around there.

All seasons/ibis is a nice hotel. And there is a brilliant restaurant a few minutes walk away. You should be able to get a rate at about 1000-1200baht/night -- only bummer is the drive in to town, but if you're used to huamark I guess you know.

Btw, photos & video of hotels always looks better than reality. At least for the lobby and swimming pool in this case, the rooms probably look a bit nicer, but don't expect swans.

Ended up staying at Kantary House for 4 days (booked and paid in advance)...verdict...Hmmm well the room was nice but the food wasn't up to standards and to be quite honest the service was terrible,i really had expected more for 2,400 baht a night....won't be staying there again.

Ended the holiday on a good note though, spent the last 4 days at the Bangkok Rama (1450 baht a night),verdict....Nice room (cottage) lovely garden, great food and totally wonderful service.I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone and will be staying there again on my next visit.
