I would vote for the party running under the number 5 banner, using the "anti corruption" slogan on their banners (though I don't understand why the slogan is in English).

As I can't vote, I'm thinking of offering everyone in our village 1,000 baht to vote for them.

That is Chuwit.

Possibly one of the most corrupt guys in Thailand. Owner of several of the larger 'Massage Parlours' and one of the more colorful people on the political scene in Thailand. I think he believes if corruption ends he will still be able to run the massage places AND have the police look the other way. Years ago he claimed he was paying 1,000,000 baht/mo in tea money.

Ha, we agree on something. ;)

Well now that's it's out of the closet that us faranghettos (sic) don't much like the red party, should we as a group be afraid if Thaksin comes back to power?

There is no 'we as a group'. Similarly there is no 'Thais as a group', which should be obvious given that the country is split pretty much 50-50 politically.

And most definitely I think the following is a nasty and shameful statement towards our Thai members:

I'm a Thai but unable to vote for five years. I took the liberty of voting here. Any objections from the peanut gallery?

You can do what you want and of course this isn't a scientific poll and can't be in this context, but this thread was explicitly designed to gather opinions of non Thais for a reason (because we often DO think differently than Thais).

"We" think differently than "Them". <deleted>.. When it comes to Thai politics, I think exactly the same as a large group of Thais. And you think exactly like another group of Thais. To suggest there's some kind of ethnic or racial divide, and then applying it even to Thai forum members living in Australia and holding dual citizenship is just disgusting. :bah:

Don't get me wrong, my political opinion is likely different from those Thai expatriates, but as a principle I cannot agree to labelling people based on nationality or ethnic origins.

You sound annoyed about the CLEAR results of this poll. Trying to keep the poll NON-THAI only, was entirely legitimate if seeking to gauge the opinion of NON-THAIS.

Look, so you're now looking to insult me and accuse me of racism. What a clever card you play. OBVIOUSLY, I was talking about the RESULTS of this poll which again clearly show (if accurate) that the results are very different than the multiple polls you see today of THAIS who are showing a strong majority support for Pheue Thai.

I am quite surprised and impressed that the Phua Thai vote is as strong as it is, given that most farang voting would appear to be from the major Pop. centres ,like Bkk.Pattaya.Phuket., where animosity to P.T., is strongest. And ,no J.T., I have no problem IF Thaksin came back. In my area, most people would be very happy. Might I add, some of the most corrupt people in Thailand ,are in the current Govt., N. C. B are 3 of the ------

How much has he taken in tea money?, just a rough guesss will do.

Are you sure you are not confusing him with the guys he paid the money to, all he did was play the system that every Thai knows.

If I pay a policeman the 100 baht he asks for a motoring offence, who is the corrupt one, the one asking for the money or the one paying it?

That's a spin. So the result in this poll is "strong" for PT? Funny interpretation.

I saw his interview on the Bangkok daily newspaper website that can't be mentioned on TV, and it is excellent.

You gotta figure his take on corruption is totally different, since he has PAID a fortune over the years, instead of being on the take.

He probably made more money by paying people of then sticking to the law so he could not be extorted. Else why pay off.

The level of support for PT here is dismal, and I for one, expected they would have more support in this poll, but certainly not a majority. In the Pattaya area, I regularly meet expat red supporters. They are usually the same kinds of people that romanticize Che Gueverra and supported the Nicaraguan revolution. Actually that describes me as well, but in my view the Thaksin inspired "movement" is nothing like that. Daniel Ortega looked good while he was young, now it turns out he became very corrupt. Thaksin is quite old and never looked not corrupt.

IMHO the people always win in the end ---- but it can take years.

In the USA, it took nearly 300 years.

So, in this poll, I voted Pheu Thai.

The people have won the USA? That's news to me.

Perhaps he was talking about the Civil war or the escape from British tyranny and is a little off on the dates.

Keep pumping it and you will be quoted on Facebook soon as the only poll that supports the dems.

Maybe he can post the Good News on Abhisits Facebook wall? "Mark, you're doing terrific among foreign ThaiVisa.com members! Take that to the bank. :D

""Else why pay off.""

Because even if you do everything 100% legit they can shut you down while they investigate which could take several months.

i don't think we need to be afraid. Things may get a little more difficult for us but that is nothing new.

Let's see...China, the USSR, Cambodia...yep, the people always "win". (And immediately after enjoy an era of peace and justice; and thank goodness there were no bloody internecine conflicts or oppression during and/or as a result of their struggle!).

By the way, the American colonists weren't striving for independence for 300 years (or even close)...

Maybe he means the teabagger party and is bad at math? Let's see, 1776 plus 300 equals 2076. Hmmm. Edited by Jingthing

I will not vote because you don't allow me to,

and I cannot vote in real when July 3rd, because I will not be here at that time.

So, can I have my preference here? Naaaa....

The Democrat Party, it is not the best, but the better party than others we have during this time.

I am little exciting for the result.

Please don't exaggerate. Anyone can vote in this poll, there is no possible screening scheme to enforce any rules for a thaivisa poll. However, I did ask that voters be limited to non-Thais in order to better show the opinions of non-Thais. For Thais, there are many polls available in the newspapers. Of Thais.

Cheers.
