Hello all,

I have spilled some super glue on a mdf furniture (fitted to the wall) in my condo and I don't know how to take it off.

Any idea anyone ?

I have tried scrapping it off with a knife but ending up chipping the covering surface off annoyed.gifsad.gif

I read that very cold spray could melt superglue, do you know where to find it in BKK?

Please help I don't want to lose my deposit

cheers

A

Depending on what it is on stuff like thinner and sticker remover will help too. On an other note you will probably loose your deposit as it happens so much even if things are all right.

Acetone (nail polish remover) is probably the most common solvent for superglue but I think the top is ruined allready.

There is a "Super Glue Remover". It's available at Home Pro, House & Home, and Big C but not all the stores carry it. I had the same problem and I had to go to all the different stores to find it. It wasn't easy to locate. Also there is an off brand of "Adhesive Remover" or "Label Remover" that also sorta works but you need to let it sit for several minutes. Not sure I trust it. The biggest concern is not causing the furniture to de-laminate.

To avoid any further damage I would try a Citrus based cleaner before using anymore solvent based ones.

That works too especially on Silicon adhisive.

some brands of super glue come with their own remover, a small tube with the glue, I think some 7/11 have it, or big c or tesco, that works, I have used it before,

The stuff I bought at 7-11 was Elephant brand, has an elephant and a baseball glove on the package. Came with a small tube of glue, a needle, and a very small container of remover

I had exactly the same problem once, except that I had spilled the glue on a counter top. Nothing I could find would get it off but I eventually got my deposit back. This is the procedure I think you should follow (if you do not need to leave a forwarding address):

  1. When arranging to meet your landlord, ask him if he could please bring your deposit with him as you would like to leave immediately after the inspection.
  2. When he knocks on the door, squeeze some more super glue on the damaged area.
  3. When he sees it, he will say "Ah-ha" and poke it with his finger. Proffer a large soft toy or similar object, also liberally smeared with super glue, to his remaining free hand.
  4. You have now gained control of the situation. Politely remove your deposit from his pocket after explaining that his continued cooperation could spare him from a nasty kick in the nuts.
  5. Exit the premises. Depending on his attitude, it would be nice to let one of his family or staff know his whereabouts.

I used to live up that way but now live over the river, I have seen it in these shops before, have a look round other places, I am sure you will find it, in Big C this one tends to be with the tools etc

I have never lost my deposit in Thailand. Maybe I am just a good tenant? :)

Nail Varnish remover - i.e. Acetone - be careful though, it might lif your varnish - try really hot water first, it sometimes can clear it off.
