Fabric By The Roll (Material)

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest any shops etc that sell fabric by the roll ? I know there many shops that sell material but most dont seem to know what they have. you ask for Cotton as an example and they'll show you anything, nothing carries any labels explaining fibre content.

Ask for Polyester and the same thing, they have no idea what the fabric actually is and I suspect are just guessing. I went into one shop and asked for a Polyester/Cotton mix, was shown some fabric, went back two days later asked for 100% pure Cotton and was shown exactly the same stuff !!

so whatever you ask for they got it but its always the same roll...:lol::cheesy:

So, I need somewhere that knows what they have and can supply it by the roll with a full colour chart option of available colours etc

Anyone have any ideas ? any shops or even manufacturers/importers of fabric around Bangkok. (or anywhere else)

Please dont suggest any Tailor's because they are just as bad and will tell you whatever they think you want to hear but actually have no idea and like most Tailors just get what they offer made elsewhere and are only agents for a particular central machine shop.

Hope someone out there can help....thanks :jap:

use the burning test to determine the fibre of the cloth that you are inspecting;

I assume that you are looking for woven piecegoods ? what will be the usage of the fabric ?

There are a lot of wholesale fabric shops, at the bottom end of Chinatown, near Little India, mainly run by Indians,who dominate the fabric trade in Bkk.. . It is at the bottom end of what is known as Sampeng Lane, which is a major wholesale trade centre for Bangkok, a couple or more of kilometres long. It is the Soi or lane between Yaowarat Road and the river. Be warned- It is very crowded, progress is slow and vespas are everywhere. !!!

I agree with afarang, try Chinatown and little India. A large number of the shops in Phaurat have their factories here and actually export their fabric abroad.

Soi Watson is the wholesale market for material (Plain colours although there is some other stuff)

It's the other side of the river.Don't know how to tell you but 90% + taxi drivers know it

Soi Watson is the place where garment manufacturers go hunting for stock to finish an order due to shortage of raw materials;

it's located at Phra Pradaeng
