I’ve been sacked last week and assume that my Work Permit has been cancelled by my Employeer. My Non-Immigrant B Visa – Multiple Entries in my Passport (Australian Citizen) is valid until March 2012.

Does this mean I can enter and leave the Kingdom freely as I please and stay without any issues until March 2012 or need to report to Immigration that I am no longer working and change my visa status??

Thanks

Based on the info you provided, you are in a slightly grey area.

Basically, immigration are unlikely to do anything until notified by the department of labour, that your work permit has been cancelled. Strictly speaking you are supposed to receive a copy of this letter. It becomes a little complicated at this stage, depending on holiday pay, pay in lieu of notice etc.

However, if you receive a copy of the letter, you should go down to immigration fairly quickly (same day), and check out your status.

MaddDog, the multiple-entry non-B visa you obtained from a Thai consulate remains valid for travel to Thailand until one day before the "enter before" or "must be utilized before" date stamped on the visa.

It is only for foreigners who have an extension of stay for the reason of employment that the permission to stay ends on the last day of employment unless a new extension, granted for seven days, is applied for.

As Maestro said if you have a Visa obtained from a Thai Embassy it is still valid.

If you have an extension obtained from Immigration it died the day your employment ended.
