Do I Have To Get A New Passport First

In August I have my annual visa application in Chiang Mai.

My passport is valid until April 2012.

Should I first get a new passport or can I apply with my current passport and get a new passport in April.

You can get the extension of stay without problem.

They will give you an extension of stay till the date your passport expires. You return to immigration before that date with a new passport in April. At that time immigration will transfer your details to the new passport and also give you the rest of your 1 year extension (till Aug. 2012) for free.

Get your extension as required then apply for a new passport just before the old one is due to expire, then get the extension stamp transferred to your new passport, means visiting Immigration twice.

Get new passport now, do the extension when you receive the new passport, means one visit to Immigration.

Up to you but extension will only be valid up to April in current passport - after new one obtained full time would be allowed. But you need at least six months validity to travel most places so it would make more sense in my mind to obtain a new passport now, before you extend.

      Recent trip to UK with Qatar air- A very sad, heartbreaking visit.

      I agree, I went on a trip to London last year and to was shocked of all the Middle Easterners there. I stop with the family at a fish and chips shop and that was the worst experience I have ever had. Last but not least, had to pay $200 USD tax upon departure-Not a very good trip. The only highlight was the visit to Stonehedge. Next trip Edinburgh-"Happy Travels."

A 45-year-old man died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a car parked against the flow of traffic on a rural road in Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Muaydee, Deputy Superintendent of Tha Sala Police Station, received a report of a fatal road crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Ban Thung Prue Road, Moo 7, Sakaeo subdistrict. Officers, along with an investigative team, a medical examiner and volunteers from the Siam Ruamjai Pu In Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. Authorities discovered a silver bronze Mazda, registration number from Nakhon Si Thammarat, parked facing the wrong direction on the roadside. The car had visible damage to its front-left side. Nearby, a heavily damaged green Honda motorcycle, registration from Chonburi, lay in a roadside ditch. The body of Mr Jirasak, 45, a local resident of Sakaeo, was found under a banana tree beside the road. He had sustained severe chest trauma and a broken neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the victim had been riding along the road and, upon entering a curve, encountered the stationary car. Unable to brake in time, he crashed directly into it and was thrown off the motorcycle into the roadside vegetation. Police are continuing to investigate whether the car had been parked illegally or had been travelling against traffic before stopping.       I don't know why nearly every crackhead, drunkard and beggar on the UK streets is a white UK citizen. I've seen a couple of blacks of West Indian origin out of their heads but they don't usually beg. Never seen an Asian beg.
