I remember my first time in Bangkok. Not only did you not have to leave the hotel, but you didn't have to get off the elevator.

Only if you were not bothered about their real gender :)

Dating sites :D

Has anyone ever noticed that when your on one of those sites that are based in europe they can see your IP and pics of beautiful blondes and brunettes come on all of course living in Thailand :D.

I know people who design sites like this they just make loads of fake profiles to get desperate people there and spend money on the service. Loads of money is made this way be warned.

I once knew a guy named Simon, but that was his last name.

Sometimes, I wonder if it's really worth it.

site is down at the moment, probably getting thousands of hits after this post. its easy to get a hooker, getting a non working girl can be tough even for a Thai speaker. if its free worth a shot.

Try Dateinasia.........it's free........I met my wife there.

Tried to sign up since they have a lot of folks from Bhutan as members. Unfortunately, their crappy sign up system doesn't seem to work. Too bad.

I wouldn’t bother with any of them, a complete waste of time.

I tried a few dating sites some years ago and I don`t suppose they have changed much, if at all.

The photos of all those ultra stunning girls on the home pages are mostly fake, or paid models. None of them have actual profiles on the sites.

Once joined you suddenly become targeted by scammers, people trying to get you onto pay by view webcam and porn sites, African scammers, Russian scammers, passport, visa and travel ticket scammers, people just wanting to add you as a friend on they’re facebook, MSN and other social networking profiles.

My email inbox and personal pm on the websites became filled to the brim with scammer emails, junk mail from the website hosts and ads from companies.

I became certain that many of these dating websites are actually run by scammers to con people out of money.

After trying several of these dating sites over many months and making no progress whatsoever, I decided to give up seeking any more girls from a dating website.

My brother met his wife of now almost 30 years online--but that was before the www and when it was just an academic peer-to-peer system. So obviously, it was not on a dating site.

However, a dating site is just one more venue in which to find a potential partner. Are there fakes on there? Sure. But there are also real people who don't have other venues in finding potential match.

Back in the day, I managed numerous websites which linked to established dating sites for groups like over 60's, overseas Indians (Indians who had left India but wanted an Indian spouse), Jews, sports-minded folks, those who like Asians, Europeans, Latinas/Latinos, BBW, gays, etc. And I know for a fact of a number of marriages which resulted from these connections.

And I have been a customer, too. I have hooked up with casual dating when I travel to other places by meeting women online before I went, and I have had at least 3 relationships of over a year in duration with women whom I met online (one whom I met with the website whose banners can be found here on ThaiVisa.) My first relationship with a Thai women in Thailand (as opposed to the US) was from a free Thai dating site, now defunct.

Dating sites are just one option for meeting people, and one where you can screen for things such as religion, age, likes, status, etc. And yes, while some people lie, like in any other method of meeting people, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff.

My worst experience was driving up to Udon to meet someone one weekend only to find out that she was a serial dater trying to collect a bevy of "boyfriends" who would support her. So I wasted a weekend and gas money. But I can say I have never been scammed, nor have I ever supported anyone in any way as a result of simple e-mail communications. And I have had some very, very good experiences to offset that one drive to Udon..

Maybe you missed something, but internet became a quite important medium. But ofcourse as you prefer to spend half of your life in bars drinking beer and talk nonsense, a datingsite might not be the right medium for you.

On Dateinasia there are quite some high educated, business owners, teachers, tour guides etc.

Both Dateinasia and Thaifriendly are USA based and not to compare with the fake sites of your crappy friends.

Dateinasia is an outstanding, professional site that protect it's users on different ways, one of them is blocking the use of proxies to help avoid crappy people who create fake profiles, scammers, beggars etc. Also when you breached the TOS in the past you can forget creating a new profile.

Peolpe from Bhutan are actually interesting way more then Thais.

Actually, the people in Bhutan are great. Been there twice and looking forward to going back again.

As for their signup system, it is overly complex even when you don't use a proxy (never used one). And since I couldn't sign up there is no way to breach the TOS. I might try again if they ever get their signup bugs killed off.

Why don't you try this site out for youself? Why ask here?

My point too, exactly.

Sometimes I wonder if it just to spread the word about a site.

I also agree with the member suggesting Tagged.

To be honest, I don't think the Internet is your thing, maybe better stay away from it... :D

Actually, after you do that part (yep, it is easy), you get an email that requires you to click a link to confirm. Standard stuff up to that point. When you click the link to confirm, it takes you to an new page where you have to add your phone number so that they can send you an SMS text with a code that you have to add on that page that comes up after you enter your phone number. There may be steps after that but I don't know because I have had them resend the SMS 3 times (just in case there was an internet problem - TIT) and they have never come through. Strange considering I have no problems getting text messages from anyone else.

As for the internet not being my thing, it is much easier than learning assembly language and machine level coding was back in the late 60s. biggrin.gif

All depends on who you talk to. I have had fantastic results on internet dating sites, then again, I am not a total azzhole who sees everything in Thailand as a threat to my well being.

I have a friend who hates Thai dating sites, the reason is, he hates all things Thai, he is very unhappy here in Thailand.

I met my GF on the internet, amazing really, I met a woman who liked men 30 years older than herself, we were made for each other, try doing that in the local pub !!
