webfact Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Museum Holds Exhibition on Foreign Culture's Influence Museum Siam in Bangkok invites everyone to view its exhibition titled 'Non-Stop Trendy'. Museum Siam holds an exhibition, called 'Non-Stop Trendy.' Its director Rames Phromyen said the exhibition reflects Thais' growing materialistic sentiment from the past until the present. The exhibition reflects how Thais continue to favor international culture and foreign products over the years. One of the exhibition's main objective is to motivate Thais to wisely reconsider which type of foreign culture to take in. The exhibition also indicates that the presence of foreign culture in Thailand makes the country a melting pot. A lot of goods used in Thailand reflect international influence. For instance, in the Sukhothai era, Thais favor celadon, influenced by the Chinese culture. In addition, Persian culture influences the graduation gowns worn by Thai students upon their graduation. Western culture also prevailed in Thailand during the era of colonialism. There are other examples such as the popularity of the Pao Boon Jin Chinese series, resulting in a detergent and a toothpaste taking the name of the series or playing on the concept of honesty in the series. The exhibition also showcases new trends such as the panda cub Lin Ping, as well as American food such as hamburgers and donuts which hit Thailand after World War II. The exhibition will be held until October 23. -- Tan Network 2011-07-25
