Overcome
We are a legitimate locally registered company, established in April of this year, and want to establish an online store selling our Thai manufactured products internationally, accepting credit card payments and doing so on a professional basis. What Constitutes a routine set of requirements in most markets for an ISP to set up a standard shopping cart and Payment Gateway and for us to establish a Merchant Account with our bank is turning into a farce and we are close to admitting defeat and establishing this as a separate distribution entity based in Hong Kong. Our bank wants to see the site fully built before they decide on whether to deign to allow us a Merchant Account and then want a security deposit and furthermore insist the authorized persons to transact must be Thai nationals which is simply out of the question and the antithesis of sound corporate governance. Hosting companies we have spoken to have been inpressive with offers of half-baked solutions, or requirements that we need a year of trading history before we start trading, apparently unaware of the Catch-22 involved with such absurdity. Can anyone recommend a solution for this dilemma that will enable us to set up the Internet distribution based in Thailand or is this just too hard to achieve without compromise? WilliaminBKK
I had the same issue dealing with 3 different banks, and they wanted a chargeback fund of 5%, plus deposit etc. I ended up using Paypal just to have a track record.
