Smooth as silk ! There is a Dutch saying: as if an angel is peeing on your tongue….

Went to the Immigration Office today and presented….

- TM7 with a new photo.

- The income statement “new style” from the Dutch embassy; and this paper has been verified at the Consulair Section of Foreign Affairs at Chaeng Wattana, Laksi, since I know how important this is for the officials in NK. They told me “ next year new one”.

My income according to this letter is over 20 k euro (x 42 is…). Actual too….

( This verification at Laksi costs 400 baht plus the fee for the person who is willing to go there and wait for hours….. Three days later the stamp/seal is in your place by post. )

- The bank letter (same day) stating my balance from abroad, the bankbook, copies of all pages from last 12 months, and a view of the 1,2 M baht I brought into the country in past 12 months. They checked it and gave the stuff back to me.

- The copy of the housebook (I rent a house), the copy of my landlady’s ID, and the rental contract which they sometimes want to see. They kept that stuff.

That’s it.

I gave them proof of my income; translated to English: they did not even look at it.

I paid 1,900 baht and have my extension. Happy !

But…..

What is the change ? There is a change: all previous years the Dutch embassy checked my income. My bank book, my annual statements of pension and deposit accounts, sometimes even my pension policies. I could handle this stuff by post and bank payment, let’s say less than 2,000 baht per year.

Now I have to report at the embassy ”in person”. That means 4 k baht for the air planes, 2 k at least for cabs (I live in a remote area in Nongkhai province and have no car), 1,300 baht for the embassy fees, so this new “system” costs me a lot more money and what is the benefit for Thailand ? No benefit since now nobody is checking my (or your) income. Just file some amount and go to the Immigration Office.

Before this new rule almost every embassy checked the income thoroughly and now…..

So I think this new system will not be continued…….

If you are using the income amt. with letter why did you show them your bank book and copies of transfer of money into country, did they ask for these documents or did you voulnteer them. We all know they can ask for this but most places donot.

The fact the the Dutch embassy -- and the embassies of many other countries -- which previously verified the income no longer do so and only certify the signature was mentioned in the topic "Thai Immigration Tightens Requirements For Retirement Visa Extensions" in this post:

It would seem that the British Consulate has decided that they don't wish to be responsible for proving if evidence provided is real or fake. It would seem that they are well on their way to following the US/Australian Consulate system.

So does the Dutch embassy. Today I got a mail stating they do not issue income statements anymore. One has to make his own statement and they just legalise the signature. Immigration checks the income documentation.

The change was made on request of Immigration. Reason: Too much fraud.

This is why you had to appear personally at the embassy, to identify yourself and sign the declaration in the presence of a consular official.

Certification of the consular official's signature by the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not normally required by immigration offices, but Nong Khai may be a special case.

This verification of your and the consul's signatures does not seem to serve any practical purpose, though, as you are appearing in person at the immigration office and they can verify your signature right there.

Mofa certification was waved away THIS year at NK/april

Dutch embassy had done my income last year....it took 5 months to arrive(ems-red shirt trouble)

I had to fly back and forth to Dutch embassy this year because the "sudden" implementation of "every year" rule of certify income.

Moe666, they asked the bank books and the copies and the bank letter. So I gave them.

Hgma, the mofa stamp was checked and in July, I was there for my 90 days, they confirmed that this stamp is needed. But it might depend on the officer...... Their instructions still say that Mofa stamp is needed.

Maestro, Belgian nationals get this embassy letter by post; they do not come in person to the embassy.

Whatever.....got my stamp........

But Belgian nationals need to attach proof of income.

Tartempion, I check your comment in the Belgian forum; I let you know.

Prajak, I hold Belgian nationality and use the affidavit by mail from Belgian embassy for several years now, saves me a trip to Bangkok. They do require proof of income: 3 months pension income from Midi tower, or other means of proof if pension does not fit: copy bank statements showing other income or government tax calculation showing yearly income/tax. I use the latter.

Last extension was Januari.

And why do you go through the hassle of traveling to Bangkok if you transferred 1.2 million baht over the last 12 months, couldn't you just lock 800K then???

OK, guess you needed money to spend on something big (house, car whatever)
