Well I am Slovakian citizen (Slovak passport) living in Ireland, traveling to Thailand for 12-13 days.

I am flying from Dublin to Kuala Lumpur and than to Phuket.

From Siam-legal I got information that Slovakia has visa exemption so I do not need Visa. Before that I applied to Thai Embassy in Dublin for Visa and I got answer I do not need Visa.

Everywhere on internet ( including ministry of foreign affairs Kingdom of Thailand) state that I will get Visa on Arrival. So it is kinda confusing. Do I need Visa ? Will I get Visa on Arrival or in Phuket should I go to Visa exemption counter ? Everybody says something else ...

Another problem is that I am flying back to Kuala Lumpur (and than Dublin) from Langkawi, which is in Malaysia so I do not have return ticket from Thailand (That is why I tried to get Visa in Ireland). Could that be a problem ? I have bookings in Phuket, Phi Phi, koh Lanta and than on Langkawi plus have return flight from langkawi so that should be enough to proove that I am not going to stay in Thailand for more than 15 days ?

I am little bit affraid that air asia would refuse me to board plane from Kuala Lumpur as I have no return ticket and that in Phuket I won't get Visa which would ruin my holiday.

I was thinking about buying flight from Thailand to Kuala Lumpur just to have piece of paper that I have a flight but isn't that waisting of money?

Any advice?

Slovakia is on the Visa on Arrival (NOT Visa Exemption) list here http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2491 start there :)

1000 Baht and a photo required.

NOTE you will require a flight out within 15 days if you want to get VoA.

With your travel plans I would return to the consulate with a print out of the VoA requirements and see what you can achieve then, it may still be cheaper to book a throw away ticket.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Only if you have a diplomatic passport would you have visa exempt entry available (90 days). For normal passport a visa is required. You are allowed to buy VOA for 15 days if you have onward ticket. Believe this is very strict so would either obtain a visa prior to travel, in KL, or plan to buy a cheap flight to show to allow VOA to be issued.

So after all I rang Thai Embassy in Slovakia and I was told from 11th of August - no Visa to Thailand .. .visa exemption ..that is great ...

however will i still be asked to provide return ticket at immigration ? Thai Embassy in Slovakia said no .. but I've red somewhere that i still need that , however immigration shouldn't be as strict with visa exemption passport holders than with visa on arrival ... right ?

cheapest flight from Thailand (to Malaysia) would be 90 euro (for 2) .. its not much but still ...

Normally immigration never asks but the airline often does that so you will have rt I believe to Malaysia so only the Thai portion would be an issue and suspect they will take your word on the overload/sea travel to return to Malaysia. But they could require an airline ticket so be prepared to buy something if required and check in early.

As it stands now there is no visa exemption so hopefully the airline date base is updated immediately after this change; and the change in government today does not effect it.

i entered 2x thailand with no visa and no return flight ticket.

airline didn't ask.

but usually You must have a 2 ways ticket or a visa.

just say you want a visa and say you stay 60 days.they will issue you a visa.

if not,if custom ask you why no return ticket, say you go take bus to go to malaysia but i doubt the care because it s very easy to get a thai visa in lao.

Policies in different country's airports vary on laxness in boarding policy. I reckon the most strict is AUSTRALIA.
