I have bought tins of Coleman's Engish mustard powder in the past, but the powder seems to 'cake' very quckly in the ennvironment here.

Does any one have any suggestions as to how to store the tin to prevent this happening?

Thank in advance

There's a mustard powder that's sold in many super market's here it's called McGarrett come's in 35g tin's and it's great, I think as good a coleman's yes keep it in the fridge, but as it's small you wont have to. Give it a go about 35bt.

Yes you are 100 per cent correct. Can usually buy it, apart from other places, in Big C where the wasabe mustards are on the shelf. My own preference is for Colemans - but when times are hard and all of the Comens have been bought - it is an excellent subsitute, all be it that it is powerful enough to clear the sinus. have to treat it with respect.

Thanks for the reply

I will give the McGarretts a try.

How do you mix it?

You mix it the same as with Colemans powder, just enough water to make a paste

Yes is a little more powerful than Colmans but you dont have to buy a bloody great tin of the stuff. I have found if you mix it a little bit thick an then add some Heinz Horseraddish cream sauce can get that every ware, that's if you like it of course taste's great with the odd bit of steak or beef. It's also nice on ham sarny's or even cheddar Cheese come to that. Dont poo, poo, the idea out of hand before you give it a try. It might not be for you, But I think it's delish.Wasade and mustard there's another good mix.

Is it just me or does Colemans mustard (I'm talking about the fresh now, not the powder) lose its strength very quickly here? I've brought jars back from the UK but they never seem to taste the same after a few days.

Not at all sure what you mean by "fresh", all I have ever seen here - and elsewhere - is the powder you have to mix yourself.

As a tip, I like to mix Colemans powder with Scotch rather than water!

Thais - or, maybe, rather Chinese Thais - LOVE English Mustard, most good restaurants serving Dim Sum etc. will put a glass of Spring Onions ( หัว หอม ) in Soda Water (just to keep them cool) with a small bowl of English Mustard on the table - NEVER that pathetic, mild, sweet French stuff!

I bring back the tube's got the last lot over a year ago had some with a T bone about 20 Min: ago delish I alway's keep it in the fridge, never a problem. I used to find that the jar stuff was only ok for 7/8 week's in England, then it would start to discolour. Tube's that's the thing with a fall back to McGarrett to eek it out.
