On what basis do you have that visa entry and wish to extend? It can not be extended for tourist reasons as a tourist visa can. If you have a valid multi entry non immigrant O visa then each entry into country would get a new 90 day stay.

Now have read the header - we often do not see that when reading post so best to repeat. Being married you and husband can visit immigration with your passport/arrival card plus marriage certificate and ledger entry if done in Thailand and his ID and home register (and likely lease if not living in his registered location) to fill out TM.7 with photo of you and 1,900 baht for a one year extension of stay and do this each year. After that you would have to report address either in person or mail/courier every 90 days if you do not leave the country.

I'm married to a Thai lady and recently entered on a multiple-entry, one year, one-immigrant 'o' visa. My understanding when the visa was issued was that I had to do a visa run every 90 days but looking at the earlier post by lopburi3, are you saying that by filling out form TM.7 its not necessary for me to leave every 90 days?

If you qualify for an extensuion of stay, you can get an extension of stay instead of having to leave the country every 90 days.

Main requirement is that you live with your wife and have an income of 40,000 THB per month OR have 400,000 THB in a bank account in your name in Thailand. Income can be from abroad.

nahkit. You have to exit the country every 90 days.

You can apply for a 12 month extension if you qualify financially. You will then not have to leave the country every 90 days.

The OP being a Lady married to a Thai Man does not have to meet the financial requirements. Only a Foreign Man with a Thai Wife has to.

Yes it is sexual discrimination but there is nothing you can do.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

NO, is the short answer, if you have a NON O multi, issued on the basis of being married to a Thai National you have to exit/re-enter each 90 days, However, if you change to a "1 yr extension of stay" based on being married, and provided you meet the financial criteria you can then report to immigration either in person or by post each 90 days.

The rules are not the same for a male married to a Thai female as they are for a female married to a Thai man, the latter does not require the financial criteria.

Many thanks for the replies. The 400,000 isn't a problem but I was quite looking forward to breaking the monotony of village life every 90 days!

Then do it for the first year - when you get tired of the visa runs you can extend during the last 30 days of any entry (funds must be in Thai account of your name for two months at time of application).

If you have a multi entry visa you just cross border and return for a new 90 day stay and can extend during the last 30 days of any entry.

Without husband you would also not be able to obtain the normal 60 day extension of stay to visit from Immigration.

If you only had a single entry you will have to visit a Thai Consulate/Embassy to obtain a new non immigrant O visa and return for a new 90 day stay. For that you should have your passport/photos and about 2,000 baht in local currency to pay for the visa. You should have marriage certificate/copy and copies of husbands ID card and home register to show to Consulate.

The multiple entry is valid for 1 year, each time you enter Thailand during that year you are allowed to stay for up to 90 days. By leaving and re-entering just beore the visa expires, you get an additional 90 days and so almost 15 months out of the visa. If that is not enough, you can get a new visa from a consulate in a neighbouring country.

You can apply for an extension of stay during the last 30 days of any permission to stay, so after 60 days form entering Thailand.

If a 60 day extension would help you now just visit immigration with husband to obtain but maybe don't say he will be in Wat for that period.

For visa from Consulate have copy of his ID card and home register that he has signed and dated as well as your original and copy of marriage certificate. Have him write a short not asking for visa to be issued just in case there is any question but this is not normally required (but might help them issue a multi entry if you want that). KL is the only location with a set procedure for multi entry and that required proof of 100k in a bank account but Savannakhet would might issue without if you want to try. But if he is only going to be in Wat several months you only need the single entry.
