Surely any soft pencil will do?

I would imagine it's far easier to find a suitable pencil substitute in Bangkok than it is to find someone who can write Shorthand.

Frankly, why would anyone learn or try to use Shorthand these days? I am 65, so probably one of the last generation of Businessmen who employed a "Shorthand Typist", but even I find it far easier now to use a Computer and a Word Processing programme myself, rather than dictate a Memo (for example), read and mnually correct the Draft, send it back for a re-type and repeat until the final result is up to par.
