Mod For A Day

Featured Replies

Now we all know what the mods do round here right?

I propose giving a few of the members from bedlam the chance to be a moderator for the day, maybe once a week on a Friday or Saturday, just to see what it is really like trying to control us rowdy lot.

Maybe without banning powers though, because i could see that getting right out of hand, maybe then we would have a better appreciation of the job they have to do and what goes on behind the scenes.

I was thinking maybe the members could have a nomination system for who they would like to be mod for the day then the mods make the final choice.

Just a thought, what do you all think? :o

Sounds like fun, that could go very wrong and therefore will never, ever happen. :o

Be interesting, however not sure what would be gained by such endeavours. I doubt you won't have an idea what its like in one day and of course all of the hate PM thats goes along with it.

welcome back marmite!

(I wanna be a mod! I wanna be a mod! I wanna be a mod..... Be careful what you wish for.....For... etc....!)

I can share with you some things when I bacame a mod, it took me days to work out what to do next.

Better still would be a 'Junior Moderator's Summer Camp', parhaps in Khao Yai National Park.

Attendees (THB2000) per day could wear t shirts with Eeyore, Pooh or Piglet, depending on their age (Eeyore for over-60s, Piglit for teenagers).

In the daytime we could play rounders and make models from plasticine and small sticks.

At night Junior Moderators could get naked and dance ritually around the bonfire trying to invoke the presence of the horned beast.

Power corrupts and absolute (mod) power corrupts (mods) absolutely. :o

Besides, being a mod for a day would allow people to see the inner workings of the "system" and note all the gossip that the mods engage in regarding other members.

Those conversations could (would) become public knowledge. This could lead to a lot of dissention and resentment among the membership, especially if it became known that certain mods harboured a particular dislike for certain members.

Being a mod takes all the fun out of the forum.

Instead of coming here for enjoyment you would spend your time looking for problems, violations, trolls, spam etc, etc.

Thank you kerryd and Thetyim - you both expressed exactly what I planned on writing.

Wooohooo ! Do we get little gold stars beside our names then ? :o

Free "Future mod-in-training" t-shirts ? Bonuses to our post counts ? :D

I think I should be appointed the moderators moderator. :D

That way when they act like <deleted> (V.rarely :D ) I could give them a good kick in the nuts ,or front bum if deserved :o:D

front bum

:o havent heard that one for a long time

Everyone with such ambitions took themselves off to another website to work for free as Moderators for someone who shall remain nameless, but we will call "Mr Charisma".

One nanosecond later they were all back here. Leaving no more trace than a nondescript blog about 'What I did at work today'....which made even Totsters sound interesting in comparison.

Funny. CharismaMan lives in Japan too.

Ahh the mod squad!!!  :o

Yup. The original mods :D I was always a bit conflicted back then... who was hotter? Marsha Brady or Peggy Lipton/Julie (and a bit of Emma Peel thrown in;). Marsha Marsha Marsha won the day...:D

That's for sure.

Ever since I became a Moderator in the Bearpit, my posting has diminished a whole bunch. It's still interesting to throw up a 'hot-button' topic but the 'fun' has somewhat gone out of winding folks up.

Maybe that's why I hang out here a lot! :o

And the Moog could sit around all day saying "Oh Bother" I'm missing some of my stuffing, can someone stick me up PLEASE.

Oh sorry that was STITCH me up please.

Mod for a day, would give you just enough time to find out when the next one of our many many many admin/mods pissups are. Hence it would never happen as Uncle George would no longer be able to foot the bill if everyone went to one of the many many many....

I don't ever want to be a MOD again  :o

I do! From this: ollieslammy4bj.jpg to this: but still a mod!

Was that actually yours RDN? :D

No, that was just a pic I found on the net. Mine was a gold and brown LI150, about 1960, but bored out to 200cc. Used to go like a rocket up to 60mph, then run out of revs. But I used to burn off most LI200's pulling away from traffic lights :D
