Well to continue the personal postings and polls about members and this time thank god or buddha not about the girls, I thought I would start the TM thread. As a measure of politeness I want to put on record now that if TM wants this thread closed their should be no arguments, its very personal when a thread is started about someone and not everyone appreciates the attention (aye Bambina? :D ).

TM has had an interesting past on TV, he was a member before many of you but not a great poster, then one day he kicked in started posting everyday and has pissed off many a member whilst entertaining many another.

I can't say I ever got annoyed at the often 'misunderstood' TM to the levels of Daleyboy and Jockstar, but he did wind me up so much at one point that I asked him "Do you just come here to patronize people?".

He answered in the forum that he often felt jealous of the people that lived in Thailand and it was such an honest answer and said with such integrity that I felt compelled to believe him and have viewed his posts with a slightly different view since.

I did explain to another TV member recently that amongst the bullshit you often find with a TM post there is often many words of wisdom and though in the banter of this forum he might annoy a few members I'm pretty d@mn sure that he's the kind of guy that would help you in any way he could were you to take a problem to him.

I for one vote TM is an asset to the forum, despite his often pompous ways, and despite his posturing, and despite his sarcastic wit (which many people dont seem to get? :o ) he seems like 'one of the good guys'.

Make your vote, leave your comment, I'm sure Thomas will have a ready answer.

I don't like personal threads but you reap what you sow Thomas.

I voted 'Annoyance.' mainly because he bores the pants off me.

Very nicely posted introduction to a thread that, frankly, I´m surprised hasn`t been done before.

I say the pompous old baldie is a great asset and as such, I voted Asset.

Some of the best laughs I`ve had reading his posts (often with a sense of disbelief, incredulous, downright raging, but, whatever... Always a fun emotion arises.

Keep it up you annoying dinasour-era bush lover.

Doin`a good job.

:D :D :o

(a thread on me - how exciting)

And hand on your heart, you can say, your boredom has absolutely nothing at all to do with the fact that TM once wrote:

"If wit was sh*t, you would only, Professor, Fart".

We would't want to think you bore a grudge, would we?

a famous quote by betty something or other, a good old fashioned drunk...

"I retain no grudges, for I retain no memory of the past!"

"If wit was sh*t, you would only, Professor, Fart".

You are quite right Thomas. I have bourne you a grudge ever since you destroyed me with your Wildesque brilliance.

Yes, I used to read Robert Ludlum - exiting but not much good on character.

You guys need to get a room... :o

We would, but there's no room in the inn.

Some guy's holding a Republican Convention.

TM - I'm at times equally annoyed and other times entertained. He's an asset as I enjoy his witty banter.

Well the results are 8 to 8, a 50% either way vote. Equally annoyed and other times entertained seems to be the opinion of TV. :o

I voted TM as an asset.

Whilst he can be incredibly pompous and patronizing at times, and is an inveterate name-dropper, he is obviously a highly intelligent man and occasionally comes out with some gob-smackingly good posts.

I think he adds a touch of class to the forum.

PS. Who's going to start a Boon Mee thread?

I am not at all keen on such personal threads. Not at all nice.

Fortunately TM has more than enough character to take even the 'annoyance' replies as a compliment. After all, if there was a PANDIT - asset/annoyance thread you would have to add a 'who the fck is Pandit' option.

Me neither... null vote.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

merton is a definate asset , as bkkmadness said

he is like the school teacher whose lessons you didnt like attending , but you knew that you would benefit (in some way) when you attended , and he takes criticism better than most of us do too.

the fact that he elicits such anger , among other things , can only be good.

i never find his posts in the least bit boring.

this forum is short of truly provocative posters with intelligence , eloquence and wit , merton goes (some) way to redressing that deficiency

keep posting merton , you pompous git.

Mr O'Sullvan, Geography, in the 5th year, annoyed the f.uck out of me, always on my case, but one few teachers I would love to sit down and have a drink with. :D

Wise pompous git seems to be the result so far. Well done that man! Shame he don't keep fish. :o

…..I just can’t take all this too serious, but as I’m more of a lurker rather than a contributor, I have to say he is an asset! He comes across as an intelligent chap but at times rather confused to say the least but that is what happens when you post so much, therefore leaving yourself open for criticism.

This is the only Forum I bother looking at and for me the wide range of the peeps roots, social backgrounds and intellect, makes it interesting to read whilst I’m at work.

I voted annoyance but if he would live in the present and keep his PC bs to himself, I might even like the bfhuha man. :o

He's become useful now he's realised that you don't have to post on every thread on the forum all the time. Quality not quantity. :o

Only wish certain other posters would come to the same conclusion..... :D

:o

god you guys must be really bored!

Just upon opening this thread I see TM's new avatar. Is it just for show Thomas or are you really Jewish?

The mere fact that a thread was made just about him will undoubtedly stroke his ego as it now suggests, rather matter of factly, that he is indeed pushing peoples buttons, good or bad.

Is he an asset or liability? Hmmm. A majority of the time I find myself at odds with what he says. I find him argumentative, patronizing and somewhat condescending. Nevertheless, it would take a lot more than that to really make me become annoyed to a point that I felt a persons presence was detrimental here. He isn't that bad.

Asset I guess.

no vote this poll na ja .. just null vote

I once told Thomas to "lighten up". He then proceeded in rolling a joint and passing it around.

Asset.

I posted once already but its disappeared. :o

Try again.

I voted asset. (believe it or not!) :D

I wasn't going to vote at all but this morning i opened a thread wear :o he has picked me up on my ######in spelling :D So i vote TW@T

Maybe its TM's annoyance that is the asset.
