Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows where there is a Taco Bell near Khaosarn Road I believe. I've been seeing cups and wrappers pop up around the school I work at but when I go to ask the people where they got it, no one seems to know anything. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You've seen Taco Bell wrappers? I don't think they have one in Thailand, maybe its like a Taco Bell copy...

I would love to see Taco Bell in Thailand and would actually prefer eating there to other places I will not mention. The food is, of course, not great or anything, but neither are the places I will not mention :) Taco Bell is inexpensive. I have never been sick after eating there. And it is a cultivated taste for those who need a "Mexican food" quick fix. OK, Taco Bell bashers, your turn :)

No Taco Bells in Thailand.

It's a copy, of which there are probably a few.

On another note, you need to bring the concept of littering with your school management.

While I am not a great fan of Taco Bell products,

I would go eat their food as it would be a great improvement over the Mexican Food I have had here in Thailand.

I have not tried many of the restaurants in Bangkok and most of my bad experience with so called Mexican food has been in Pattaya.

Cheers::)

Yeah the kids were afraid to tell me where they got it because they left the crap (wrappers & cups) all over the room and they thought I wanted to turn them in. But do some of you really think it can be a copy? I mean the cups, the sauce wrappers, the food wrappers, the boxes, everything is identical to a Taco Bell back home in America. You think it's really possible some mom and pop store copied all of these things? I know it's possible but... My research has turned up nothing on the internet, even YUM Thailand doesn't have any info on their site.

P.S. La Monita is pretty good for Mexican food in Bangkok. They are located next to Language Express I think? Well the food is good, service was crap but improved a great deal :)

Back on the reservation we used to eat peyote and often thought of Taco Bell :) Perhaps there is a connection: Khao San Road, peyote, Taco Bell? Seriously, maybe they have some storage facility in Bangkok from where they ship their packaging to Malaysia, Singapore, China, all of which, I think, have Taco Bell, and maybe a box fell out near Khao San Road, near where somebody was eating peyote :)

I'm starting to believe that more than there being an actual Taco Bell here.

There's no Taco Bell in Thailand.

Yum Rest. Int. (Tricon Global Restaurant Corp. at the time) bought the rights to run TB in Thailand, and were apparently planning to launch them before the '97 crash. They shelved it and have yet to plan a (re)launch.

It has got to be better than Taco Bell, but, that being said, I would not mind some Taco Bell from time to time.

Been waiting or taco bell to open. no reason why not, we have just about everything else. Arby's would be great too!

Yes an Arby's roast beef would go over very nicely, I'd also vote for a quick Taco bell order..

An Arby's opened near Patpong many years ago and quickly went out of business. Also, one of Chiang Mai's most famous food entrepreneurs opened a copy Arby's a few years ago, but that did not fly either.

Was definitely not a Taco Bell there last time I was in Khao San. Maybe some kid brought back some sauce packets from the US. I'd love Taco Bell to come here, and think they could make it work. Stick to chicken, shredded pork, and spicy rice in tortillas and leave out the beans.

Doubt we'll ever see Arby's, too many people don't eat beef. Maybe if they had pork instead of roast beef.

I remember seeing an Arbys in a some distant shopping mall years and years ago (not Patpong tho UG- so they had more than one) and recall thinking what a random place for an Arbys.

I thought there was a Taco Bell on Sukhumvit near Ambassador around 15 years ago?

I used to go to it regularly.

It was right next to a Wendy's.

That was a copy called 'Taco Time'.

Posted

Taco Time is not a copy, it is a legitimate chain based in the Northwestern US. It has been around for over 50 years.

They were here in Thailand for a while in the early '90s but didn't survive.

No wonder. I do not know what they are like in America, but the ones in Thailand sucked!

Taco Bell is not, repeat not Mexican food. However, it does serve junk food which tastes OK. If there was one here, I would certainly go there sometimes.

In the US, one of my weaknesses is the Jack-in-the-Box taco, a deep-friend tortilla-beef thing which is also not Mexican, but it tastes good. :)

I can't make a tortilla to save my life, so I bring them back from the US and make more authentic Mexican food on my own.

Taco Bell is not, repeat not Mexican food.

I call it Mexican "influenced" fast food, but I like it every once in a while.

What would the influence be? As Mexicans don't eat like that.....:bah:

It is a completely distinct cuisine called "Tex-Mex", which is based loosely on Mexican antojitos (street snacks) -- but which has evolved (devolved?) over decades on the other side of the border.

Corn and flour tortillas, some of the spices, (lousy) guacamole, etc. Infuenced by Mexican cuisine.

Hey guys, I have an update about Taco Bell, well, no new useful information, but a story. On Tuesday my friend who also works at my school asked his students (the ones that were eating Taco Bell) if they could please tell us where they got the Taco Bell from so we could go there for lunch. They said they weren't sure but they would bring some for us on Friday. Well low and behold at 10:30 this morning they knocked on the door to our office and gave us a box full of tacos from Taco Bell with three Dr. Peppers. Still haven't figured out where it was but had some Taco Bell for lunch!

Is this some kind of cruel joke?
