Some of the exact same concerns from months ago over this scam that were never addressed pre-election, but hopefully the Civil Service Commission can find some answers.

Shame not enough people considered the questions prior to the crims getting voted in... now, it's too late.

By "crims" I presume you mean convicted felons. You are aware of the constitution? Just how many convicted felons are serving in the elected government, Buchholz, care to name names? Or is it as usual, just "dee tae phoot"?

You presume wrong... as usual. The slang doesn't require conviction status.

I am aware of the constitution.

Try to stick with the required English usage on the forum.

So are you saying they are criminals? In that case the individuals you are accusing must have committed crimes in accordance with the definition. Or does "crim" mean something else in your knowledge of slang? I just wanted to know whether you just throw around accusations in the hope someone will believe you or if you're willing to back the accusations up with proof. I'll try and stick with the usuage of the English Language, thanks for the reminder.

OK, so lets just call them a bunch of crooks. This means they are crooked, and a person can be crooked without being officially convicted of a crime. I think this was the original point.

YINGLUCK --- let's see you and your family lead by example ---- how many of your Shinwatra employees are earning that THB300/day minimum wage?????

I'd like to know the answer to this question.

I'm presuming that what the Shinawatra business empire gains from the reduced corporate tax rate will far outweigh the increased cost of their workforce.

Private sector not shaken by new salary adjustments

BANGKOK, 2 February 2012 (NNT) – The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) stated that the private sector does not feel threatened by the cabinet’s approval to increase salary for civil servants.

FTI Secretary-General Sommart Khunset disclosed that the government’s policy to increase the start-up salary for bachelor’s degree holders to THB15,000 has not pressured the private sector to comply with the resolution.

He also expressed approval with the government’s policy since it will cut down chances of corruption and bribery among civil servants.

It may be government's policy, but, so far, like many other "policies"... it's not happening.

*poof* and there goes another election promise (15,000 baht/month for bachelor degree holders).

As a result, the minimum salary will increase from 9,140 baht to 11,680 baht for bachelor’s degree graduates

So it would appear that in this latest hole PT has dug nearly every civil servant would earn the same no matter what their grade or experience. Let's hope none of them are has heard of erosion of differentials!

But as someone alluded to earlier in the private sector we might see an end to companies insisting on a bachelors degree as a minimum qualification.

Plus, all on the same salary regardless of level of dicculty of the job or level of responsibility all but kills any future attempt to build a performance based culture.

Democrats blame government for concealing information

BANGKOK, 3 February 2012 (NNT)-Democrat Party Spokesman Mr. Chavanond Intarakomalyasut has branded the government as ‘autocrats’ for concealing information from the public and not allowing the Opposition enough time to debate the controversial loan decrees.

The Spokesperson said further that in the past 6 months, the government had misled the public on 9 issues.

Among them were pre election promises by the Pheu Thai Party which are still unable to materialize such as the cancellation of the Oil Fund, and the 15,000 baht minimum salary for those who possess a bachelor degree.

The increment is only applied to civil servants, not all across the job industry as promised.

Besides, the addition is not made by changing the salary scale but will come in the form of a monthly subsistence fee.

A criminal act whether prosecuted or not is still a criminal act.

That act makes the perpetrator a criminal.

If they are convicted in court then they are a Convicted Criminal.

and until they are convicted, they are not, in the eyes of the law, the person who committed the criminal act. Charged with a crime, yes, but innocent until proven guilty.

However, quite OT in any case...

We all know that this government is headed up by a convicted criminal. If he puts Snow White in to be his puppet that just makes him a criminal puppeteer leader but a criminal nevertheless.

There is a very easy solution to find the money to pay for the wage increase....

When a government official is caught breaking the law rather than sending them to an "inactive post" and then continue to pay them for the rest of their life for not doing any work.... fire them...

You could even go a step further and eliminate the entire idea of "inactive posts"... if people are not able to do the job or are not needed, then you lay them off.

if this was done and all "inactive posts" were eliminated, there would be plenty of money to pay for significant raises for all remaining government officials.

OT, but nice pic...

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has recommended the comprehensive salary restructure in the public sector if the government is going to enforce Bt15,000 salary for all bachelor's degree holders.

Officials' pay to rise in line with new starting salary

The Cabinet is expected tomorrow to approve Bt20 billion to ensure fairness for existing civil servants after the starting salary for new hires was hiked to Bt15,000 in January.

The budget would be used to raise the salaries of junior and middle grade officials over two years to bring them on par with the pay for the lowest grade.

The cost for adjusting the entry-level salary was Bt18 billion.

The change automatically threw the seniority system and pay scales for the civil service out of kilter.

Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong has instructed the Civil Service Commission to restore seniority and pay grades via the salary adjustment.

Government officials employed up to 10 years before the January pay hike will have their pay adjusted in two steps over the two fiscal years of 2013 and 2014 so that they keep their differential over the new hires.

The budget is divided into Bt12 billion for pay adjustments in 2013 and Bt8 billion for the following year.
