Seedy ... Campbell Brown in a police station in Koh Phanghan.

The brawl erupted when a verbal argument escalated between Weller and another man, believed to be a member of the Australian defence forces on holiday from Perth.

A friend of the unnamed Australian then allegedly hit Weller. Brown allegedly jumped to his teammate's defence and punched the second man, who was an off-duty Thai police officer.

All four Suns players were taken into custody and transported back to the mainland. Brown, while seated with his hands tied behind him, was then allegedly hit by one of the police officers questioning him.

Thai brawl puts Brown on shaky ground

September 16, 2011

Campbell Brown's Gold Coast Suns leadership position is on shaky ground after being detained by Thai police with three AFL team-mates following a night of post-season revelry.

The fledgling AFL club will investigate an alleged fight between Suns players, an off-duty policeman and an Australian tourist on the island of Ko Phangan where they attended a dusk-to-dawn beach party.

Pictures of an unclothed and handcuffed Brown, Gold Coast's deputy vice-captain, came to embarrassing light for the Suns on Thursday.

A fight broke out at the Full Moon Party? Shocker :whistling:

A bit more to it than that. These guys are pretty high profile footballers. Cambell Brown is anyway, and fodder for the gutter press in oz at the moment as the media are red hot on any footballer acting up.

Easy to see what will happen though. A grilling by the football club after which the President of the club will give a media interview and state that after talking to the Thai police, who decided to lay charges, no further action is needed.

Of course that could just mean that they paid a pretty penny for the whole thing to go away.

Guess these guys are world famous in ozzie land than?

No they are not famous they are only aerial ping pong players rear men play Rugby.

they should rent a boxing ring out and settle their differences legally. i would pay to watch. love a grusge match

Waiting for the SMH to come out with a story blaming Thailand....

'Brown, while seated with his hands tied behind him, was then allegedly hit by one of the police officers questioning him.'

I really hope this is true.

Gold Coast Suns in Hangover recreation

The Gold Cost Suns tried to ban Mad Monday, but that wasn't enough – several Suns players have been involved in an end-of-season incident in Thailand.

Four players, Campbell Brown, Maverick Weller, Joel Wilkinson and Jacob Gillbee were arrested after an alleged fight with a local policeman.

The club had announced two weeks ago that it had banned Mad Monday, with coach Guy McKenna telling the media that the practice had passed its use-by-date in modern professional AFL.

"We're a footy club, not a social club," McKenna said at the time.

"It's like the footy trips, these days I think they are a yesteryear thing about bonding. I think the best form of bonding is working hard together.

"It aint a sacrifice, it's a choice. You choose to be a good person and a good footballer and you choose to work as hard as you can. It aint a sacrifice."

and an explanation of 'Mad Monday' referred to above, article from 4 September - the coach must be overjoyed at his players' behaviour

Mad Monday ban for Gold Coast Suns

September 04, 2011

THE Gold Coast Suns have banned Mad Monday and will conduct their end-of-season player reviews on the day traditionally reserved for alcohol-fuelled group bonding.

Suns coach Guy McKenna decreed the traditional season-ending drinking session, held on the Monday after a club's final game of the year, would never get off the ground at the AFL's newest club.

It's OK, the Thai police decided to use Mad Tuesday to sort them out.

Here's an idea - stop paying ignorant a-holes ridiculous sums of money to throw/kick a ball around.

I didn't think the BIB got paid that much. Or were you talking about the "sportsmen"?

i think we are getting off topic

lets get it back on !

who won the fight. the Aussie sports man or the Aussie defense man ?

my money is on the solider.

No they are not famous they are only aerial ping pong players rear men play Rugby.

real men play fight and the winner gets the girl. the loser gets another boot !

Any sport that invloves blood is a real mans sport. unless the blood is from a sport that invloves coming from the rear B)

Whats a "grusge" match BigC ? :D Is it something the KPG lot are into?

a "grusge" match comes from the acient latin word for " rumble in the jungle "

but it has a double mean this acient word it can also be translated to " i made all this shit up "

in some circomstances this word can but used when someone is trying to perfect the art of typing whilst under the influence of too many tablets.

In this case the third was the more correct. maybe i should use a smell checker
