CHIANG MAI ZOO WILL TODAY HOLD PARADE FOR ITS TWO PANDAS

Chiang Mai Zoo will hold a parade for its two pandas today.

A parade of more than 20 kinds of animals from zoos all over the Thailand was practiced yesterday in preparation for today's real spectacle. Animals in the practice run included a 5 month-old Indonesian tiger cub, a 3-month old hayeena pup, and orangutans from Khorat (โคราช) Zoo. The full parade will be held during the celebration period for the two pandas at Chiang Mai Zoo, namely Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui.

Yesterday's practice run involved a drummers' parade, followed by an animal parade. Practice for the session of Chinese tea-reception ceremony also took place.

As for the reproduction of the two pandas, both animals will have to be closely monitored as the heat of Thailand may alter their reproductive pattern. The two pandas may mate this month, whereas pandas in China generally mate between March and May.
