ICT Identifies PM's Twitter Hacker

The Information and Communication Technology Ministry revealed that it has been notified that a hacker accessed the prime minister's twitter account.

They have pledged to arrest the offender within two days.

Information and Communication Technology, or ICT Minister Anudit Nakornthap claimed the ministry knows who the hacker responsible for getting into Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's Twitter account is.

The minister has pledged to arrest the suspect within two days.

In their initial investigation, only one offender was identified and this person has been determined to be living in Bangkok.

The minister is searching for other collaborators.

However, the minister has declined to reveal the hacker's identity, adding that the ministry is in the process of going over the evidence.

As of now, all necessary documents, including signs and numbers have already been collected.

He pledged that they will thoroughly investigate into the case and will not allow the delinquent to escape the law.

He added that the Court will try the case in accordance with the Computer Crimes Act adding that it depends on the prime minister as to whether or not a lawsuit will be filed against the hacker.

Moreover, the ICT Ministry will suggest that the prime minister take additional measures to secure her privacy at the Cabinet meeting today.

BANGKOK, Oct 3 -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Monday that she would temporarily halt communicating via Twitter until the Information and Communication Technology Ministry (ICT) finishes its investigation to find the hacker who discredited her government and policies.

After reading thru all the changing and contradictory comments by the various government folks here, I realize it's not the hacker who has "discredited her government and policies."

They've been managing to do quite a good job of that all by themselves....without any outside help.

BTW, I notice in looking back that, according to the Nation, Nakornthap originally was expected to be the Social Development and Human Security Minister...

Nice to see that these kinds of minister jobs are infinitely interchangeable.... I guess flying an F16 fighter pretty much equally qualifies one for either ICT or SD&HS....

A person who last Sunday hacked the Twitter account of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has been identified, Information and Communications Technology Minister Anudith Nakornthap told The Nation last night.

He declined to speculate on the possible involvement of another person. In a telephone interview last night, he also refused to name the suspect.

Anudith said there was sufficient evidence, which he called electronic forensics including bandwidth traffic and log files.

A press conference will be held today.

22-year-old student surrender for hacking PM's twitter account

A 22-year-old student has surrendered to police to face charge related to the hacking of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's Twitter account.

Information and Communications Technology Minister Anudit Nakhonthap brought the student to a press conference Wednesday.

Anudit said the student surrendered on his own and promised to use his IT expertise to help the ICT Ministry to fight against other hackers.

The student surrendered to police on Tuesday, Anudit said.

He was identified as Ekkawit Thongdeeworakul.
