I had mine done by Professor Kannika at Rajavej two years ago, it was an OK experience.

I understand at Ram you get a CD of the endoscopy as well, not sure if Rajavej have started doing it.

Edit: Dr. Kannika Phornphutkul, Professor Emeritus and the vice president of Rajavej Hospital.

Thanks for that, at 20K RAM does seem to be a candidate.

I had them look deep into both ends at the same time while I was out at Ram. No complaints whatever. As I recall the whole thing (OR, anesthesiologist, lab, meds etc.) was about 20k.

Had both ends done at Rajavej, no problem whats so ever. I was sent there by Dr. Morgan

What was the cost for both ends and when, (I assume you had them at the same time)?

Personally, I believe that Up Theos must know whereof he speaks, at least with regard to the lower GI.

Can see your twisted thinking, but you're a million miles off track. biggrin.gif

I have a quote from RAM of THB20k for the same thing, both ends at the same time whilst sedated, that's quite a big price difference.

Yes, it was also my understanding that as it's a one time use of the operating room, anaesthetist, equipment, nursing services etc, that it would work out a lot cheaper.

I had an MRI at Bangkok/Phuket hospital about a year ago, the ENT guy wanted a scan of soft tissue whilst the Ortho wanted to see bone structure, the result was a single MRI costing twice the price of a single MRI showing exactly the same detail but ordered by two different doctors working in unison. I tried to challenge it but failed miserably when faced with overwhelming "illogic" - sounds like the deal above could be from the same family of thinking.

Hmm. I understand your point, though this sounds like two different specialists and therefore two completely different sets of scans, requiring two separate readings and diagnosis.

I've no idea regarding the ethics of the case you describe, but I know MRI's are an expensive process.

With a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy, it would be the same specialist just transferring ends and tubes (hopefully)

Anyway, hope your result was OK. smile.gif

Depends on the way they think, if they see an extra 5,000 +15,000 as being OK because the same TV, specialist, anesthetist, nurses etc are already there, they might well consider this a way of drawing punters away from other hospitals. All they have to do is transfer the gastroscopy tube for the colonoscopy tube, it's all hanging there by the table and the procedure itself is only several minutes unless something needs biopsying. Maybe they also think the more they look, the more chance they have in finding something that will scare the hell out of you and require extra services, meds etc.

Personally, I would say for 20,000 baht from top to bottom is a great deal.....take it.

Have today queried and and they have replied, "what part of 20k don't you understand" - well, they didn't use those exact words but that was the very clear message. :D

Thank you, I'll see if Dr Morgan can't get me an appointment.

You can make the appointment yourself - well kind of... You just call the main 13 Floor clinic number and find out what day Ajarn Pisetpongsa has a clinic. The girl who takes the calls speaks good English. You will have to show up and take a queue card. He is a very popular doctor and there is usually a big turn out to see him. The appointment system at Sripat doesn't really work. It's first come, first serve. ;)
