Contractors Urged To Speed Up Construction

TRANSPORT MINISTER HAS URGED CONTRACTORS TO SPEED UP THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE AIRPORT LINK PROJECT

Transport Minister PONGSAK RAKTAPONGPAISAL (พงษ์ศักดิ์ รักตพงศ์ไพศาล) has ordered the State Railway of Thailand to push for the completion of a rail link to Suvarnabhumi Airport after finding the construction is 65% behind schedule.

The Transport Minister informed the Director of the SRT, Mr. JITSANTI THANASOPHON (จิตต์สันติ ธนะโสภณ) on the policy concerning the Airport Link Project, and notified that the construction development is still behind schedule. He has assigned the Mr. JITSANTI to investigate the cause of delay. Meanwhile, he has sent warning letters to the contractors, so that they would speed up the construction. The Transport Minister is anticipating that the Airport Link Project will finish before the official opening date of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is scheduled to open at mid 2006.

Moreover, Mr. PONGSAK has assigned the contractors to report the progress of their work progresses every week.

I don't think I will plan any international trips out of BKK next year. These useless bastards are just as likely to close Don Muang before opening Suvarnabhumi.

Apart from that the airport is so far behind schedule the railway people haven't been able to find it yet. :o
