There is very little that TV members do know about me, and I think I'll keep it that way. :D

If too many people learn that I can lick my eyebrows, I'll never have any privacy ! :o

I'm a cracker at kareoki (sp?) - at least I think so (oh, and me mum).

The wife just laughs.

She seems to spend rather a lot of time laughing at me nowerdays.

Must be an age thing.

I used to have the laughing issue but I have it under control now :D

Oh and it's karaoke :o

Thomas Merton and Boon Mee singing the karaoke to the national American anthem would be one to see and Butterfly singing backup vocals.

I hate cotton wool. Just the thought of it makes me Cringe.

One of my best mates Chris Smith made the movie creep. Anyone seen it?

I find it really hard to speak Thai as i have a very deep voice, bit like Barry White, so getting to the high tones is almost impossible, the only way i can do it is if some kicks me in the nuts while talking :o

This is a bit :o, but Thai actually doesn't depend on how deep your voice is - the tones are relative to your voice range, and not absolute pitches (as in singing).

In a way, it's misleading that they are called 'tones', because a tone in music has a constant pitch... but for the tones of Thai, the important thing is the contour of the pitch.

For the high tone, all you need to do is find the highest *comfortable* pitch within your own voice range, start a little lower than this and at the end of the tone, push the pitch up a little bit until it reaches that pitch -and whoomp! - there it is.

Here's one of my stories. Hope you enjoy it.

Before becoming a computer/network techno-geek, I used to work in the aerospace business, building experiments for space shuttle missions. I got to work with many famous scientists and astronauts from the US, Japan and Europe, as well as participate in mission ops on some flights. I traveled regularly to most of the major NASA centers (Kennedy, Johnson, Marshall, etc.).

One time, I got to go up the gantry to the crew entrance door while the shuttle was on the pad, to perform an experiment test (awesome view). I got to watch a shuttle launch from the VIP stand by the Vehicle Assembly Building. Upon returning to the cape a couple weeks later, our NASA airplane landed at the shuttle landing strip just after crews had removed the same shuttle from the top of the jumbo jet after transport from the Edwards landing. The shuttle was suspended on the demate crane about 8ft above the ground and we got to walk under it, check out the tiles and structure. Cool stuff!

My last big assignment was working with Russian scientists and engineers in planning the missions for all the shuttle flights to the old Mir Space Station. I researched the Mir Station and wrote an important briefing on its capabilities. My trip to the Baikonur Cosmodrome got nixed, but we showed the Russian scientists a good time when they came over to the states for a symposium. Sad to say but all of these very brilliant and accomplished men were all flat broke and living in poverty. They did bring a lot of vodka and caviar with them. So we treated them out on the town a couple of nights, then sat around, socialized and drank all the vodka the last night there.

All in all, several years of totally cool work experiences, people and places. Unbelievable and unforgettable!

Would not have met the following people if not for the work I do and being in Thailand. Met, talked and had lunch with Prime Minister Thaksin (please no remarks - he is acutally quite pleasant in person), Khun Ying Paveena (very elegant lady with a good heart), Minister of education (he interviewed me for a university job position), Minister of Agriculture (not pleasant fellow), a few other ministers that I can't recall position, the head of the IAEA (you've all seen him on the news), and my proudest moment was in meeting Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindohn (you can see our facility group picture with Her Royal Higness). Have seen and heard His Royal Majesty The King on two different occasions.

It's moments like this that really make my life in Thailand even more exciting.

Also, I have been published Internationally twenty times since working at CMU but only once when in the US. And I thought English Lit in colleage was a waste of time.

I LOVE this thread............. You guys are so funny! :D

Well let me see......... I went to the same high school as Miss Australia 1970-something (Belinda Green) and........ I worked for a shady character who owns one of the biggest publishing companies in Asia (and he had a Hollywood movie made about his life but he doesn't like to own up to it and I won't mention names) and.......... I smoke, but tried to give up yesterday (not doing too well today but tomorrow is another day) and......... I raised twin baby joeys (that's little itty bitty kangaroos for you lot who don't know these things!) and.......... I climbed a live volcano once in GUATAMALA (hello Kayo!!!! :D ) and..........

Well I 'll write an essay and submit to the TV short story "I'm A Winner!" Comp (hey George) :D

First prize: A round trip ticket to.......... SOUTH AMERICA? :o ?????????

:D
