Nice one. Thanks for posting.

Ah - the days when you could fix your own bike with some haywire and chewing gum !!!

Modern incarnations of course have more performance, and are all-around better machines, but some of the magic is missing.

Fantastic photos.

It must have been a real adventure doing that trip in the 50's.

Two things surprised me - that they drank so much tea and that German people really wear those leather pants and suspenders....not that there's anything wrong with that.

Great story and pics, unless the riders criss-crossed Austria,Bavaria,Switzerland, many times, the destinations on the the pics dont make much sense,

The alps and Austria,Yugoslavia [as was] Bavaria, North Italy [dolomites] Switzerland has been a biking holiday destination for me since 1976, and managed every year till 2001,

Wow what a great story.

Also liked the sub-plot about his 70 year old father taking the Ducati 888 160mph - by accident - classic laugh.gif

Unless that Ducati was highly tuned, the 888sp4 was tested by many mags at 142 mph, so 160 is a bit off the mark, but heyho, it all makes for a good story,,,
