no MacDonalds that I know of and I've been living around here for 8 years or so...closest thing to western fast food that I've seen is the KFC at the Suphan town tescos food hall..and hot dogs at 7-11, of course...but they are thai hot dogs and don't taste he same...

an'...you can't even make yer own burgers as ground beef is hard to find...I brought a meat grinder in from overseas in an attempt to make burgers and a thai gremlin snuck in and stole the beef grinding attachments...can't win for losin'...

but I wouldn't say that Suphanburi is an unfriendly place...except for the time that a dirty, disheveled bum came up when I was having lunch with my thai family in Suphan town and demanded money and then smashed up our food when I tried to ignore her...we don't go to eat at that place anymore...

the place is not unfriendly but there ain't much to commend it except for good roads, nicely surfaced...

Bangkok, Patayya, Phuket, Changmay, why not try Phitsanulok just another place as to the nearest thing to Western world.:)

I would rather like a wetherspoons, there burgers are pretty good, buns are not, but you would get decent beer with it. Tim Martin are you listening?;)

I think the nearest BK or Mc D to Suphan is about halfway between suphan and BKK at one of the service stations (or was I hallucinating) or into Ayuthaya, which may be a problem right now, a couple of KFC as Tutsie was saying, also a Black Canyon in the centre which is ok,,,,

Tutsie, if you havent already you must try the Steak and Fries or the Chicken and Fries one one of the roadside resteraunts in Suphan,,, open between 5pm and 8pm weather permitting, exiting off the main road at tesco lotus coming from the south ,turning left on the road that takes you towards the water park, its right next to the small police building about 500 mtrs up that road, before you pass the road you would turn off at to go to the Mall...

closest thing to western food in Suphan and quite tasty.

:yohan: The Supan/BKK one was taking an age to re furbish, i forgot that one. If you exit before Lotus, or U Turn, into the service road before Lotus is a Left turn only towards the Town and Hospital area , is the steak place easy to spot , don't want Old Nop rear-ending me. Lost me on the Water Park. I go to the big Thai one just before the BMW /Posh Car place where you U Turn to Lotus. Oh Shit i'm lost already, sure you must be.

wow!! a trip home just to get a burger!!! that seems quite expensive! Thai people eat MAMA in America...why shouldn't westerners be able to have a crappy burger every once in a while to satisfy their taste buds!!!

anyways...i wanna try your pizza ;/

take the exit after that one,, the exit alongside Lotus,,,, drive about 1/2 K, past a couple small sois, then take the route to the left just before makro,, drive about 500mtrs up that road and look out for a small police building on the left,,, just alongside on the roadside is the resteraunt,,, fries excellent,,, Chicken breast excellent and steaks ok too,,,order at least a dbl portion of fries though,,,, (thai portions)

:licklips: Yeh, know that one, cuts through to the dual carriageway , with Svensons the other side, Fun road that , a rear end every day. The Clocks on the right of you. Cheers.

Yes, the clock is up that way too,,, not sure about Svenssons, couldn't say i've noticed that, Remember they're only around in the evening though, from about 5pm till around 8pm and usualy quite busy unless your arriving at about 5pm, but they have a few plastic chairs out for waiting and they do the frying under a Gazebo right next to that small police building, we go there about once a week when i'm at home and never been disappointed

thanks for the info jonny...however I am unlikely to ever be in Suphan town on my own and with the family we usually end up at a food stall on the U-thong road near the turn off for the 3260 going south...no western food but the thai stuff is pretty tasty: larb moo (cooked), moo daeng, various types of kwiteo and other soups, sticky rice and I don't even like thai food that much...I partake and sip from the coke mixed with vodka just purchased from the suphan lotus (I never drive our old 12 seater van; a privilege for one of the BiLs )...there's usually about 10 of us and after a 'big shop' at lotus we're very contented...(see attached photo...tutsi's vodka is in the blue tumbler at the end of the table)

well, jonny...it's full of the crushed ice that you can see on the table to be served with the cokes...relative volumes and so on...:D

btw, my little niece is studiously ignoring the camera as she had discovered recently that I would returning to work soon and not staying with her forever as I had promised...arguments regarding no work = no money have no effect...I attach another photo at the same table that captures her true demeanor...

same situation with the daughter, she's just turned 5yo and her argument was a couple of trips back that she would give me her 50 baht from her bag if I stayed at home, when I told he we need a wee bit more than her 50 baht, she then says maybe mum can give her some more money and then I can stay home,, hehehe,,,,

Thankfully we don't have the water that high in Suphan itself with the exception of one or 2 small areas, although the surrounding fields resembled a small ocean when I left last week,, wouldn't mind the McDonalds up our way though,,,,,,
