Prime Minister: FROC Never Conceals Info from Public

The premier says the authorities are doing their best to bring the flood crisis under control in areas surrounding Bangkok and the capital city itself. She added the Flood Relief Operations Center never conceals the truth from the public.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra admitted flood water has breached into various areas near Bangkok including the National Memorial in Pahtum Thani Province. The premier attributed the ineffectiveness of the country's in handling the approaching flood water to a multitude of factors but she's determined to bring the situation under control. Yingluck added the FROC and the government never tries to conceal information from the public while relevant officials have been ordered to keep the public informed periodically.

Meanwhile, the premier expressed concern for the Thonburi area of Bangkok. She urged the public living in the risk areas to relocate their valuables to higher ground. Private companies have been contacted to allow employees to take time off work to prepare for the impending flood water.

The premier has also promised to address the problem of unfair price hikes and shortages of necessities and food items in Bangkok and flood affected areas.

We have honestly told you a few times not to panic and move things up a meter or so. When we saw you panic, we retracted those messages as they obviously were incorrect (for you). Now get going and let us do our work :D

They never conceal info because they never give any! Where in the heck can one find simple up to date info based on a map of Bangkok that tells one where the water is and in which direction it is going? Where can one find info about road conditions if , for example, one needs to get from Rama 2 Samut Songkram to say the north east (Saraburi). This isn't rocket science!

Yeah yeah of course. We believe you.

But please do not start crying, baby girl, PLEASE...there are many Thai ppl to protect you from this cruel world, from flooding and so on...they'll do their best just because they have nothing more to lose - but everything they have, their city and their country....Don't cry, yet you're save behind the backs of those anonymous in da River banks...

dam_n. And THIS is our PM... :(

The most useful source of information for me has been Twitter. The English language papers are far too slow to be useful, and FROC is just useless.

PM: No information concealment on flood situation

image_2011102414545934ECE102-0522-C8B6-F46707A89AFF1F93.jpg

BANGKOK, Oct 24 - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday dismissed allegations that her government has tried to conceal information on the country's worst flooding in decades.

The prime minister conceded that the floodwaters have arrived Bangkok through varied channels and reasserted that the Flood Relief Operations Centre (FROC) has no intention to cover up information, but that new factors repeatedly occurred during the ever-changing flood scenarios.

Ms Yingluck said she instructed the Department of Irrigation to find ways to reduce the release of water at Klong Hok which is now spilling over into surrounding areas but there are some technical obstacles due to the torrential waterflow.

Regarding the plan to expel the deluge of water which hit Bangkok, the premier said she is holding talk with Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra today to find the solutions.

"We split the operations into two parts, the protection of economic zones and rescuing stranded victims," Ms Yingluck said.

The premier said the situation is critical. She expressed concern that many officials are fatigued from the operations dealing round-the-clock with flooding in 20 provinces.

Ms Yingluck called on both public and private sectors to allow their flood-hit employees the day-off so that they can protect their homes.

When asked why the government did not declare a national holiday, the prime minister explained the government fears that there will be insufficient government staff to provide assistance to the people. (MCOT online news)

From an earlier post but on topic "The Prime Minister insisted that the government and the Flood Relief Operations Center were not trying to conceal information from the public, adding that ordinary people had been constantly updated about the floods".

I'm so glad that she and her ministers do not consider themselves as "ordinary people". What a slur to every Thai citizen. They truly see themselves as the "elites" just because they are some of Thailand's richest people and hold political office. Too bad the Thai populace cannot see this.

As we all know the "elites" was one of the main daily inflammatory retorts of Jatuporn and company during the burn Bangkok fiasco. I suppose to red reasoning PTP elites is totally different than Democrat elites. Absolutely no double standards here.

BANGKOK, 24 October 2011 (NNT) – Initially, the plan to evacuate the flood victims from Thammasat University's Rangsit Campus to the National Sports Training Center Muak Lek in Saraburi province is under revision after difficulties in transporting the evacuees are found.

Imagine to have to evacuate twice. What if indeed FROC gets water to run through Bangkok with only a meter of flooding?

Are you in any kind of doubts?

Water MUST go somewhere. And water MUST be passing through...something on its way.

And now see the map (elevation map on Google, so-called "terrain" - will serve you for good...until they cut electric and Internet).

The only question is how deep will that be.

If it's transparency she's after she's achieved that but not in a good way. Not too hard to see the truth behind each and every statement she makes;just beneath the surface. She is quite simply a joke, a refection of Thai ignorance and incompetence. How stupid to vote someone in on her looks and family name!!!

Strange because just as the Thaksin arrogance was creeping back with the blatant promotions etc, here comes a crisis which has to be dealt with, can't be put in second place behind T's return.

However, I still think he'll pull off a master stroke when Thailand is on it's knees in a couple of weeks, a solution to the problem, which of course would require his 'temporary' return in order to oversee some kind of funding initiative. Sure he'll use this disaster to his advantage if he can, politically and of course financially.

Her assertion may well be true but only because FROC is either too inept to obtain the right information and therefore cannot conceal it, or has it but doesn't know how to interpret it.

It amazes me that anyone can defend these obscene charlatans. Maybe that's what the posters here that defend them and PTP have in common.

Anyhow, we CAN'T change anything. Just only blah-blah-blah here and shaking the winds...

Thus.... enjoy the show. As simpe as just that. And do your best whe water comes (hope common sense will prevail of having work permits)...

Some of us knew right from the start that Yingluck's frock doesn't conceal anything from the public. The Emporer has no clothes!

Are there any PTP supporters out there that can explain this one away?

I'm just guessing, but I'd bet I'm not too far off the mark. If you look at the PTP MPon the banner and the ownership of the trucking company which will be getting paid from an "emergency budget allocation", you'll probably find some things in common.

They don't respond to factual posts and will claim the reason is that you are trying to make political hay in the midst of a national crisis, which is of course ironic in the extreme. All the more so because the national crisis was caused by political malfeasance.
