Is It Time To Move From Bkk To Pattaya

Featured Replies

I think i should just move there, is the situation in Pattaya any better?

Are busses driving to pattaya or is the traffic stopped, this crisis is getting bigger and bigger

Just back from Pattaya. Shops there are just as empty as here. No water, no Mama, no sanitary napkins...

If you can, move further away. Pattaya is the first choice of most Bangkokians as it is just a 2 hours' drive there. So many have the same idea.

Judging from the crowds everywhere this morning, most of Bangkok is already here. :(

Samui it is then!

That could be a serious mistake IF this thing gets worse.... are there any water plants for bottled water. is there any fresh produce cultivated on Samui.

Personally i would stay on the mainland. where the farms are etc.

I would head west or south west.

Don't panic, don't panic. When did you last go to the supermarket..... Panic, panic.

Some family members who can manage their businesses online have brought up temporarily relocating living and business operations to Singapore. Others have suggested acquiring more condos in the middle of town (BKK) and setting up there.

Wait and see time at the moment to see how serious the damage is. I'm not going anywhere as long as the schools are open and the niche imported food logistics network can still handle the increased demand created by the shortfall in domestic production/distribution.

all stocks on samui are running very low as well

After the toxic klong water from bkk and the human waste from about 40 million people flow into the gulf of thailand I dont think I would get in to the water for a year or two.

Go to Chiang Mai or further North, you'll get monthly deals for around 8,000 with internet. PM me if you want details.

Most bottled water is just municipal tap water pumped through a UV filter and they have plants all over Thailand. There's plenty of seafood on the islands in the south so I think they would be a good place to escape Bangkok.

As long as you stay away from Chanthaburi, go where ever you want.

pattaya has plenty of water, just the panic buyers have cleared the shelves. here there are many water bottling factories that supply the nation. its the bloody panic buyers that are clearing the shelves.

No Chiang Mai is not cold, it's in the 30's daytime temp. I'd rather wear a jacket than a life jacket, and you better hurry up as Don Muang Airport is closed and Swampy may well be next.

If you do not work or can work from home, yes it is a very good idea to leave BKK - Chiang Mai / Hua Hin / Pattaya / Koh Samed / Koh Chang etc.

Samui - was just there a week ago and there were no scarce stocks I could see. Seemed completely unaffected. If anything, the island has a serious lack of tourists (as has been mentioned in the Samui forum for ages) and they were trying to overcharge many rentals. I had a look at 5 or 6 and then found one I was happy with, near Lamai. I drove down the Chaweng and Lamai strips, and apart from a handful of tourist bike riders (who couldn't ride) the bars/restaurants were skeletal. Staff outnumbered the tourists!

Seems like a very good destination to ride out the floods IMO ATM.
