Wife strangled after smashing up husband’s Star Wars toys

A husband has been found guilty of murder for strangling his Thai wife after she smashed up his collection of Star Wars toys.

Rickie La Touche, 30, claimed that Pornpilai Srisroy, 28, damaged the Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker memorabilia that he had built up since he was child. During a subsequent row, he suffocated his wife then ran off sobbing to his mother who lived in a nearby street.

A relative discovered Ms Pornpilai lying dead on the couple’s double bed covered by a duvet with a pillow over her face

Life for Leigh man who suffocated Thai wife

A man who suffocated his Thai wife in their home has been jailed for life.

Rickie Nehls, 30, of Maple Crescent, Leigh was found guilty of murdering Pornpilai Srisroy at Preston Crown Court and sentenced to life, with an order to serve a minimum of 12 years.

Nehls, also known as Rickie La-Touche, told police he had killed Mrs Srisroy after she threatened to leave him.

Senior investigating officer Andy Tattersall said police "may never know exactly what happened that morning". Nehls was arrested on 26 April after he told his mother he had killed his wife.

Wonder if the wife had murdered him in Thailand what the outcome would have been?

It says right in the article

threatened to kill him when he was asleep and then “cut him up and eat him”.

Only question is the recipe

Star Wars toys? He should get life just for that.

I knew an American Guy who's house was full of these toys who treated his lovely and gentle Thai wife like Sh**. The toys were more important than she. The house was full of this cr*p, she couldn't have proper furniture or dust these things (they were absolutely covered in dust, the toys that is!). Eventually she walked out on him. Strikes me as an obsession and these guys are probably quite well into the autistic scale somewhere. I wonder if the guy in Leigh had a mental health assessment?

Doesn't surprise me that this type of personality ends up with a Thai bride.

Hmmm - must have met her when he was 20 years old, two years later married and two years later got her visa to UK and moved there.

Cowardly act because she was threatening to leave and go back home.

Toys story just a smokescreen.

Very sad story. A child has lost his mother and for all purposes his father too.

You shouldn't write sensible comments like that. It spoils the thread for all the Thai-bashers to make their usual inane remarks against Thai women.

12 years in jail or "henpecked" for the rest of life.

He may have been smarter than you give him credit for. I have seen some couples- Thai/farang that would be better of going in the same direction.

If he is Mr. La Touche, then surely she must have been Mrs. La Touche?

Why?

I have known my Thai wife for 18 years, been married for 11 and she kept her own Thai name and didn't change her family name to mine.

Our 7 year old son has a Thai first name and my family name.

On the other hand my first wife in The UK changed her family name to mine and though we have been divorced since 1999 she still has my family name.

edited for bad spelling

Its one of those things.

Some men are 'obsessive' about certain hobbies and related paraphenalia - Thai women are unlikely to understand this.

Of course those men need to be avoided, but again - Thai women wouldn't realise this.

Cheaper than divorce in the UK, he gets to keep his pension, his house and the kid (when he gets out)

Better deal than I had from a judge.

She may not have got much cash if anything from him to send back to her family in Thailand. Having lived around Leigh and Preston area myself, just isn't the kind of thing that a 30-yr old lad would do espcially given his mother stil on the scene. I expect that she got nothing and that's why there was trouble ending in her death.

He probably was a bit child-like and unable to cope with the realities of adult marriage especially with a Thai girl frustrated about not having found the good life she'd hoped for.

He should of just let her go back to Thailand there are plenty more bargirls lining up to tell him he is handsome and love him. Killing her for wanting to leave is pointless.

Probably the most sensible reply in this whole thread.

Where are the mods today; some of these posts should be removed. Come on guys have a heart, life isn't straightforward and black and white?

A 30 year-old man....

suffocating and murdering someone.....

over children's toys. :blink::huh:

.

Read the full story....this was not over children's toys.... it was a ticking bomb ready to explode at any time.

If he had come back to Thailand it's likely the outcome would have been reversed.
