November 10, 201114 yr Sounds like some real estate agent tossing the waste matter. Emphasizing the "plus points": this area was not flooded! No problem! And even if it does happen, you are so high up it will not reach you! And there are shops nearby, no problem. No mention of water supply, general infrastructure of the goods delivery, etc. Might work with a newly-arrived foreigner. If something like this happens again next year foreign investors will surely be pulling up stakes, but I doubt if Bangkok will become like Montevideo. For years there have been articles about the city being flooded. Been a lot of close calls, I recall seeing the Chao Praya about a foot from overflowing in past years. Let's see how this affects tourism this season. Just curious, any of you homeowners out there have flood insurance? Does it even exist in LOS?

Add to that the problem of Bangkok being at sea level, big buildings may just make it sink faster. Lets look at getting people out of the city and building a second capital elsewhere.
