Poetic footage of the difference between handing down to those in need (especially your elders) as opposed to handing up.

The difference is not lost on the Thais posting these in their discussions.

Why is she wearing plastic gloves? Is she scared of catching something from the people?

Commoners are icky and the water is even ickier to her.

The opposing photo reflects a different notion on both counts.

The bag handing PR stunts are useless, and that goes for every political actor in the scene.

They should be working to the best of their abilities in the position they had been elected to perform, there are plenty of volunteers, soldiers and public servants to go around giving relief supplies.

While Yingluck floats around getting photographed handing bags to people she is not doing her duty as a Prime Minister, she should be heading the efforts to tackle the flood crisis and the normal workings of government.

Really, its as if, for example, the CEO of Tesco would take time from his CEOing to play as a cashier in one of the branches, the stockholders would be barking mad.

The same dynamic duo Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth and Prime Minister Yingluck in a different photo today.

It reflects how often Yingluck actually cooks by displaying her lack of knowledge that cooking utensils have insulating handles nowadays that negate the need for cumbersome oven mitts.

The same applies for the ridiculous "feeding the masses" PR stunts depicted above.

Yes, to a much lesser degree because he is the ex-PM.

Between Abhisit and Yingluck a majority voted for Thaksin's sister to run the show on his behalf, so she is the one that should be heading the government to the full of her ability instead of wasting time with PR stunts. In other words, people can't having it both ways, either they wanted Abhisit to be heading the government or they didn't, in other words, if you have two people lining up for a job promotion and you give the promotion to Joe instead of Moe you can't chastise Moe for not fulfilling the role you assigned to Joe.

How can we make accurate estimates when we are still in the middle of the Crisis?

Only when things will be back to normal, a survey can be done and consequently the Budget has to be revised, amended.

Obviously it is not the correct time for speculation on the Budget, and not the correct time to play politician gamblings

I agree, and Abhisit said the same thing a few days ago in the Nation. Suddenly the opposition has to oppoose whatever is suggested, said, proposed or being considered. I had no idea that being in the opposition was so completely polarized...what muck.

I notice that after the failure of old shoot em all to drive a divide between the government and army the nation are still hand jobbing over his handsomish but increasingly fat face to actually come out with something that most people would even waste two seconds to listen to

Do you have a degenerative posting disease?

No, I don't think hammered has the disease.... He's just hammering a few truths to the wall!!!

Certainly, he is out helping actually. Plenty of footage of him wading through the filth passing out relief bags.

It would be hilarious if he gets elected PM at the next election.

Plenty of footage of Yingluck passing out relief bags she didn't donate. If you want to pass out relief bags do it with the bags you've paid for, not for show like yingluck does. If she wants to be useful let her fill sandbags. That's something what I like to see politicians do.

It was hilarious that Yingluck was elected.

Yes... we get your point - handing up / down - but that guy in the bottom pic is not Mark! He's a G.I. (not the "most liked" in the Southern Muslim areas) communities)

Fang,

Well said... "muck" is being to nice though!! Counter-productivity should be Mark's middle name!! (Hope you didn't get too wet in Fang earlier this year...)

Correct. They are soldiers.

It was posted by Thai's as a graphic representation as to why they respect the Army more than the PM.

Abhisit wasn't mentioned in their posts nor mine.

Payboy,

Many of the rabid pro-Dems can not see this picture - they have an auto-Photoshop function switched on in their brains which shows a PT official instead of their beloved Mark.... sad.

Re: your (Bucholz) picture above of PM handing "down" relief supplies... Of course the military is highly regarded in Muslim communities in the restive south....

You know, to draw a correct analogy you should find one were Abhisit is handing down relief bags, not moving around flooded areas surveying the situation.

Hi Scotbeve, I've noticed that, and I really dont understand how someone could take sides in this drama to an extent that they now demonstrate all the symptoms of a medical disorder.

Sad indeed, knowing that politicians on both sides don't give a rats arse about expats and their petty indignations - justified or otherwise. :(

Abhisit, the prosperous future of Thailand.

For the amataya (only)!

Yes, good thing they now have a government for the common man implementing Thaksinomics instead. Tax free luxury homes, tax free cars for the children of the wealthy, taxes on big corporations slashed by a third, and no taxes at all for billionaires! The people have spoken and they demand trickle down economics!

Similar to Yingluck's disapproval in the Deep South, the regard either entity receives is subject to local variances.

Now, the flooding is occurring in Bangkok, which is the location of the photo posted.

In the flooded areas of the country, in and out of Bangkok, the Army is outpacing the PM by a wide margin in terms of public regard for the entities' involvement with the floods.

400 billion divided by 50 million ... thats around 80K per Thai.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of infrastructure to repair / rebuild. 10,000 to 20,000 baht per head is probably what it will end up to be. Think of land expropriation for some canals to be dug alone... Massive costs. And yes, I hope that it's done transparently - not like in the (recent & not so recent) past.
