rafaelo Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Hiya, I need to go to Samui immigrations next week and was wondering what the best route to take from kpn, can I take my bike on a ferry from Thong Sala? or should I go from Had Rin? anything I should know before attempting this? many thanks in advance for clear council ;-)
sbk Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Why would you take your bike to samui for a day trip? Songserm used to allow people to carry their bikes on the boat to Samui - check with them first.
Leckyman Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 If it's a small scooter type, they may sqeeze it on for you. If it's any bigger then you have to get the ferry to Donsak, then the ferry to Samui... That alone will take all day.
thrilled Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Leave the bike at phangan, rent A scooter at samui.
angiud Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Carry your bike in the boat is 2/300 Baht per way, rent a bike in Samui is 200 Baht, close to the boat pier.

Don't know about Samui but a lot of rental places have the rule, no passport no bike.
Tropicalevo Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Don't know about Samui but a lot of rental places have the rule, no passport no bike. For sure - they all try that line. The only time I have had to walk on is in a hotel on Koh Tao. The hotel would not budge, the bike shop 100 meters down the road did after about 10 minutes. I am sure that there are a lot of places that say - no passport - no bike, but I have been lucky enough not to come across many of them. I do point out that I have lived on Samui for 11 years - and it is a Thai driving licence. At the end of the day, the money usually talks - especially in low season.

guavagirl Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If you take the Songserm you can walk to immigration in less than 20 minutes or even take a motorbike taxi. They will take you there and back for 100 Baht.
