Retrieve Phone Book Off A Wm6.5 Phone

Featured Replies

Wife has a broken HTC WM6.5 phone she wants to pull the phone book off onto her new phone. Is there a way? I thought of Windows Mobile Dev Center but it seems to need active sync on phone? The phone just turns on/off and there is no screen access anymore.... ideas welcomed?

I guess it depends on the phone. My Nokia shows up under my computer. It shows the memory card as well as phone memory. It may be worth a try to plug it in and take a look. Putting the SIM card in another phone may work as well. Using a memory card reader after removing the memory card from the phone is also worth trying.

Thanks for reply. I can see the phone on a USB cable on a PC but just the drive space and files on it - I don't think these show the phone numbers and address book? Was wondering how to collect the phone numbers and names from the phone memory? I thought we could just control the phone remotely from a PC via USB cable, but the only software I used for this before (Mymobiler)seems to need Active Sync installed, and whilst we have it on PC, not sure how to hand shake with the phone without access to the phones touch screen.

mymobiler automatically sets up on the mobile unit without needing to do anything, so perfect for broken screen.

If the new phone is also windows mobile, you can move over the .pim file which in one go gives you back all your contacts.

Otherwise you'll have to sync with outlook, and then try to get the outlook contacts onto the new phone....
