By the way, Behringer is total crap gear, but I've never tried their microphones... I've never heard of Rode until I Googled it and it said it was for video, mainly shotgun mics. I've used Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, Beyer, EV, Neumann and Schoeps microphones for decades. And I really doubt you can buy them in Phuket, at least at a decent price. Interesting though, a few other audio engineer friends and I have bought some mic's up in Myanmar near Mai Sai, and the Shure SM 58 copies were good quality! We couldn't tell the difference sound wise comparing them side by side with originals. The Sennheiser copies looked good, but weren't very good sounding. Anyway, good luck on you project...

Thanks folks.

Recording being a new hobby, I decided on trying the SM58 for a start. A friend is bringing one from o'seas USD100. Will have it in a couple of days.

The RODE NT2A made in Oz, is a superb condenser. Avail at Proplugin BKK...a pretty good shop btw,.....at 15500B.

Now I need a stand for the SM58 :(

Any suggestions? there is a gear shop with dusty gear opposite Robinson's in Town, but prices are way marked up!

Just to close this off....for others who might be interested.

Found a great shop.."Mahajak" sales guy Khun Kitti 089 730 2546. Per bus card, they also have a website.

I think on Dibuk going east just past Thepkasatri, on the right hand side. The same road that the Sengho book shop is on.

They sell higher quality sound equipment + JBL. Dennon etc.

They also sell Shure and AKG mics.

Got myself a great boom mic stand from them..1200B.
