I will be coming to Bangkok over the weekend to check out the Motor Expo and was wondering if there are any open air Beer Garden Bars around the Sukhumvit area ? To relax and maybe have a meal before hitting Soi 4. 5 etc bars later at night

Zanzibar is a little bit upmarket. Its on Soi 11 on LHS as you come in from Sukhumvit. Further on down there is German pub which is sort of open airish and then you've got an Australian bar further down on LHS.

Zanzibar is pricey but nice atmosphere. Of course if your looking for a little more risque then the beer garden on soi 7 might be the go. Here you can sit and be smiled at by girls in various stages of decay ( they tend to get a few oldies there). Ok for a beer and a chat but thats it.

There is a heap more that could be listed but if your intent on hitting soi 4 afterwards then starting off at lower soi's make sense.

The Amari hotel beer garden soi 5 cheep beer 59bht till 7pm and a spit to soi4.

Food is good pub grub. Roast lamb is very good.

Sitting is relaxing, no hassle. TV's and cable could do with some improvement - but hey....

Don't ask me, respectable people don't "go to bars".

Are the beer gardens in front of Central World open yet?

Bei Otto on Soi 20 is a good place for food and ambiance early evening. Also if you like Mexican food Los Cabos on Soi 14 is a good spot.

Why mess around? Go to the original & best Bier Garten in Soi 7. Nice seafood place across the street. Gullivers in Soi 5 is on the way to Soi 4. Done.

Have always found their lamb a bit wuff. A bit dogdy in my opinion
