Just moved into a really nice house on the road to Promthep cape from Rawai beach...

love the house shaded front with balcony and big enclosed back yard ..

but

The rode too the cape is soo noisy from tour buses and Thai guys racing up and down the hill on there chain saws (motorbikes) with no mufflers why can't they drive like normal people not to mention the falang crotch rockets you can here them coming from the turn at Rawai beach??.. nobody obeys any traffic laws here and have not seen a police car EVER around here its terrible..

the BIG buses start at about 1pm and are non stop until after sunset. most of them not even 1/2 full..

saw one big bus passing another big bus on the road yesterday??? both going the same place so whats the hurry?? loud as hell i can not even sit out front as i get so pissed off.....

loads of black soot blowing out the back as well...NICE

don't motor vehicles here have some sort of emissions or noise test they have to pass to be on the road??

now even when i go out and about im more sensitive too the noise here...ITS EVERY WHERE...

nothing can do except move again i guess??

hope i can find a quiet place someplace on Phuket...

The most annoying noises around my home is crickets which like to play their songs in the evening. Currently I can hear few birds singing. However, I can hear every now and then some cars, long tail boats and planes flying. Not really too often. Living in North East of the island has it benefits although it's sometimes too quiet.

There are 1000's of places to live on the island that see hardly any vehicles day or night.

Moving to a main road on a tourist route tends to mean there will be traffic noise? Isn't that the same in every province, town, city, country etc etc?

That is not good but if you are renting then you don't have much of a problem, just move, there are many nice quite areas but beware of Russians, I have 2 living next door and they are a nightmare!!!

Despte living in the middle of busy Kata, it is rather quiet here. One can hear sivilisation, roadnoise, occasinal bar music, but the sound of birds is more dominant. Living on a main road just isnt my dream. Used to live only 50 meters off Patak road, and couldnt sleep at night

yes lucky too rent so 6 months and Im gone....

but have too go through all the Bs of moving again..

I knew when i rented this place the road would be busy but not this bad...

to bad as land lord is top knotch and the house is wonderful now i spend all my time out back and its very nice..

if the vehicles here had some rules of the road concerning noise then it would be ok...

but even just up the road sitting near the beach noise noise bikes and buses main problem...

for me living in the woods up north out of the question too far away from town and lots of kamois and mafia types up there so im told...not for me..

maybe Korat the new farang hang out is in the cards...mai loo

glad im just renting for sure...
